**Position**:Packaging Operator (Full-time)

**Shift/Time**:Day Shift, 7:00 am to 3:00 pm

**Location**: Guelph, ON

**Scope for the position**:

- Sets up, runs, and adjusts packaging machines by performing the following duties.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Reads job specifications to determine machine adjustments and material requirement; sets stops or guides to specified length as indicated by scale, rule, or template.
- Activates machine and observes machine operation to detect work piece defects or machine malfunction.
- Inspects finish product to determine accuracy of machine operation.
- Performs minor machine maintenance such as oiling machines and adjusting.
- Assists coworkers to set up machine, and to stack, mark, pack, and transport finished product.
- Reduces downtime by assuring these tasks are performed promptly.
- Other assigned duties as requested by the manager.

**Required qualifications, education, experience, training, skills, background, certifications**:

- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Previous related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience. -1-2 years
- Previous experience working in the food industry is considered an asset. 1-2 years
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Effectively communicate in both written and verbal
- Ability to work through and problem solve issues involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Basic understanding of mechanical principles; ability to troubleshoot and adjust machine
- The employee must regularly lift, move (in some cases drag items), slide, raise and/or place:

- Up to 30 lb. force for up to 25 feet and then pull to original position.
- Up to 33 lbs. from 5 inches off ground/ raise to 47 inches & then return 33 lbs. to original position.
- Up to 50 lbs. for 3 feet at waist level; lift bag/box onto side and return to original position.

Up to 60 lbs. from 31-inch-high shelf, 2-hand carry for up to 5ft. then return 60 lbs. to 31-inch surface.
