Capital Power Corporation is currently seeking an innovative and results-oriented individual to join our People Services team.

Reporting to the Director, Employee Relations, the Business Partner (BP) is accountable for influencing and cultivating partnerships with the business leaders to broker solutions using the People Services Specialty and Shared Services teams. As a strategic partner and trusted advisor, the Business Partner is accountable for understanding the business strategy, determining the human capital implications, assessing the needs and the risks, developing potential solutions and working with the business leaders to implement. The Business Partner is also accountable for providing proactive support to the business in all aspects of People Services programs and services and overall people resources management.

You will contribute to our team by
- Trusted advisor to the business leaders with respect to all people matters and programs such as, people resource planning, performance management, organizational design, pension and benefits, compensation, workforce planning, leadership development, succession management, recruitment and employee relations.
- Work closely with the business leaders to determine their needs and formulate a plan to help deliver on each of the business priorities and drive business change efforts.
- Ability to drive complex changes and initiatives within Capital Power.
- Council and influence business leaders by proactively partnering on organizational issues that have a people impact.
- Partner with the People Services Specialty Teams in the development and deployment of policies and programs to ensure alignment with business objectives in order to drive business results.
- Identify key metrics to measure success of high value Business Partner services.
- Council and educate business leaders on positive employee relations
- Working with the Shared Services team to facilitate the provision of day-to-day transactional requests, including, providing direction on complex, sensitive, and confidential matters.
- Partner with Talent Management to help the business drive implementation of key people programs such as performance management, talent development and succession planning.
- Partner with Total Rewards to develop and deploy policies, programs and initiatives that align with the organization’s strategic direction as well as the overall Total Rewards philosophy and objectives.
- Correspond with Unions regarding grievances and day to day employee relations.
- Support the collective bargaining process and act as a member of the company bargaining team as required.
- Involvement or participation in other corporate initiatives and special projects as required.
- Use Workday HRIS to initiate recruitment, compensation, and other organizational changes.
- Advocate and support Diversity and Inclusion initiatives within your assigned business groups.

What you will bring to the role

**Education**:

- A Bachelor's Degree in HR or Business Administration or other related relevant fields. CHRP or CPHR designation or additional relevant education would be considered an asset.

**Experience**:

- 5+ years of related HR generalist experience including specialized experience in Pension/Benefits/Compensation, Labour Relations, HRIS Systems including Workday, Employee Relations, and HR program development and delivery.
- Previous experience in a unionized environment.
- Familiar with US employment standards and regulations and have experience supporting US based operations.
- Experience in the oil & gas or energy industries would be considered an asset.
- Strong working knowledge of MS Office Suite - Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- General understanding of financial systems and corporate budgets.
- Comprehension of multifaceted strategic HR service delivery model.
- Proven ability to build consultative business partnerships with client groups and within the HR team and the organization.
- An innovative problem solver who helps clients resolve complex issues and achieve business results.
- Exceptional effective interpersonal skills
