**Description**:

- More specifically, but not limited to, the Special Education Technician:
- Oversees all exam accommodation services including scheduling and invigilation;
- Oversees note-taking services for ACCESS students;
- Organizes Disabilities Awareness Day and other similar events;
- Facilitates awareness and skill building workshops for faculty, staff and students;
- Provides one-on-one adaptive technology training to students with special needs;
- Makes recommendations for purchasing specialized equipment;
- Helps students in problematic situations relating to academic problems and exam accommodations and refers those students to the appropriate services;
- Provides information to students about the services that are offered;
- Liaises with teachers in relation to problems with students with special needs;
- Maintains confidential student files and prepares teacher notifications of students registered with ACCESS;
- Updates websites and promotional materials about ACCESS services;
- Maintains database, prepares statistics and reports about the ACCESS services;
- Liaises with the Academic Systems - Registrar’s offices;
- Coordinates the work of support personnel involved in programs for which they are responsible, and trains them;
- Replaces Reception at Student Services as needed.

Schedule: Monday to Thursday, 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (35 hours/week)

- Other related tasks which fall within the scope of the classification of this position may be assigned.**Requirements**:

- Qualifications:
- Diploma of College Studies (DEC) in an appropriate specialty or a diploma or an attestation of studies which is recognized as equivalent by a competent authority.

Conditions related to the specific position:
- Experience working with students with special needs;
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships;
- Experience working with Adaptive Technology;
- Ability to provide technical and software assistance to students as required;
- Excellent organizational skills;
- Proven ability to work as part of a team;
- Strong English and French written and oral communication skills (to be tested);
- Intermediate knowledge of Word and Excel (to be tested).
