Description:

• Reporting to the Learning Commons Coordinator, the Makerspace Technician supports the Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (STEM) Centre mandate by participating in the development and delivery of extracurricular, cocurricular, or crosscurricular animation. They are also responsible for helping to monitor and control access to the Makerspace and the equipment within.
• More specifically, but not limited to, the Makerspace Technician:
• Supports the Vanier Robotics Team;
• Organizes activities and events that promote science, technology, and student innovation (e.g., Spaghetti Bridge Building Contest);
• Supports teachers in planning and implementing outofclassroom enrichment activities (e.g., Rocket Launch);
• Manages use of STEM space for events;
• Coordinates Vanier's participation in math and programming competitions;
• In collaboration with instructors, offers technical support to the 3D Printing complementary course, as well as other 3D printing projects assigned in courses;

Other related tasks which fall within the scope of the classification of this position may be assigned.

• Schedule: Tuesday (11:00 a.m. 4:00 p.m.) and Thursday (11:00 a.m. 4:00 p.m.) (10 hours per week)
• Contract: August 14, 2023, to June 14, weeks)
• Classification: Technicien ou technicienne en travaux pratiques (Laboratory Technician)
  Requirements:
• Qualifications:
• Diploma of College Studies (DEC) in an appropriate specialty, or a diploma or an attestation of studies which is recognized as equivalent.

Conditions related to the specific position:

• At least one (1) year of pertinent experience (an asset);
• Experience conducting demonstrations and/or workshops;
• Experience with 3D printing;
• Strong English oral and written communication skills (to be tested);
• Basic French oral and written communication skills (to be tested);
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel (to be tested);
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication competencies;
• Demonstrated ability to analyze problems and develop solutions;
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and with groups;
• Experience in computer programming (an asset);
• Experience with virtual reality technologies and prototyping platforms (an asset).
