Radius achieves this by providing the highest standard of evidence-informed and client focused inter-professional care. We collaborate with our clients to address the broad determinants of health.

The primary objective of the Client Support Worker/Community Engagement Worker is to provide compassionate support for individuals navigating substance misuse issues while also ensuring the security and safety of clinic premises. This versatile role involves assisting individuals in prevention, harm reduction, and treatment while also engaging with community members on clinic property to determine their needs. This unique position involves a balance of time spent both outside the clinic, engaging with the community, and inside the clinic, welcoming clients seeking access to clinic services.
- Key Responsibilities_
- Provide referrals to support services.
- Provide education on safer drug use, harm reduction, and sexual health.
- Provide overdose prevention education and Naloxone training for take-home Naloxone kits.
- Assist with overdose emergencies under the direction of a nurse.
- Patrol, monitor, and connect with individuals in and around the Radius clinic.
- Assist community with drug poisonings, harm reduction education, and overdose response.
- Build rapport and relationships with service users to increase their utilization of Radius healthcare and social services while keeping clinic property safe and accessible for all users.
- Assist with drug paraphernalia clean up in geographic area of the main clinic.
- Support broader community engagement efforts through various means (i.e., meeting attendance or flyer distribution) as directed by supervisor.

Qualifications_**
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP)
- Mandatory vulnerable sector check and suitable criminal record check
- Able to balance numerous demands and conflicting priorities, strong problem-solving skills.
- Mental health, addictions, emergency and harm reduction experience.
- Knowledge and experience working with diverse and vulnerable populations.
- Understanding of trauma informed care and social determinants of health.
- Security experience with a strong emphasis on empathetic and compassionate approaches would be considered an asset.

Skills and Competencies_**
- Experience applicable to the position (social work, psychology, sociology, addictions counselling, criminal justice, etc.)
- Knowledge of barriers encountered by Indigenous people in using health care services
- Knowledge and experience surrounding unhoused populations
- Know[TS1] ledge of social support services available in Edmonton and surrounding areas
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training - can be provided at a later date
- Mental Health First Aid and Applied Suicide Intervention Training - can be provided at a later date**Salary**: a competitive compensation package commensurate to qualifications and experience will be provided_
