Family Law Associate Lawyer

We welcome different approaches and support creative solutions.
**Duties**:
- Provide legal advice and guidance to clients regarding divorce, parenting arrangements, adoption, spousal support, division of property and other family law matters
- Determine and implement file plan with client: collaborative, negotiation, court process, alternate dispute method, or hybrid models
- Collaborate with lawyers within the firm and outside professionals to develop family plans or case strategies, as applicable
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date case files and documentation
- Stay informed about changes in family law regulations and legislation
- Conduct legal research and analysis on various family law issues
- Draft legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and agreements
- Represent clients in court proceedings
- Negotiate and facilitate settlements on behalf of clients
**Requirements**:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school, and licensed by the Law Society of Manitoba
- Proven experience practicing family law
- Strong knowledge of family law principles and procedures
- Excellent legal drafting skills with the ability to write clear and concise documents
- Strong negotiation skills
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team (within the firm and with opposing counsel, as applicable)
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills

Individual lawyer offices are well-appointed and include both traditional meeting and collaborative meeting spaces. You will be paired with support staff. Requests to consider hiring your existing support staff, to continue as part of your team, will be entertained, if there is mutual interest. We offer competitive salary and bonus structure for junior lawyers, and a robust fee arrangement for our associates.
