This position is a part of the Association of the Academic Staff of the University of Alberta (AASUA).

In accordance with the Administrative and Professional Officer Agreement, this full-time continuing position offers a comprehensive benefits package found on our Benefits Overview page and an annual salary range of $72,790 - $119,248.

**Location** - This role is hybrid with a mix of remote and in person; on-site work takes place at North Campus, Edmonton.

**Position Summary**

Under the direction of the Associate Dean, Student Services and the Academic Program Manager, this position develops, implements and manages the student services area for the Faculty of Engineering. This position is responsible for a team which consists of a blend of Academic Student Services Advisors and Records Coordinators (NASA support staff) which are focused on the delivery of services within a single functional area. In particular, this position will serve as an expert advisor to academic leadership, faculty, staff and/or the general public on student service policy and process. In all facets of this role, this position endeavors to integrate and advance the University’s commitments to equity, diversity and inclusivity.

**Duties**

Manager (Student Services)
- Provides professional and managerial expertise and know-how to the development, maintenance and operation of student service procedure processes and administration.
- Clearly communicates strategic objectives to staff. and works with staff to define operational and short-term action plans that align with these objectives.
- Identifies operational challenges. Uses continuous improvement methodology to manage work and streamline processes. Evaluates current business processes for efficiencies and recommends changes.
- Is open and interested in new ideas and searches for new methods of doing things. Models innovation, flexibility and resilience for staff.
- Evaluates the performance of the current student service model. Uses information to make process improvements.
- Allocates assigned resources effectively. Redeploys resources as required. Looks for ways to create capacity. Analyzes area needs and formulates well researched business cases to request additional resources.
- Determines and sets key metrics for the Student Services with Engineering. Evaluates performance and adjusts.
- Applies University policies, precedents and procedures to make decisions within the area of accountability.
- Acts to avoid imminent problems or to capitalize on upcoming opportunities.
- In conjunction with a Service Partner (Communications), develops, compiles or writes communications or promotional materials for distribution. This may include reports, briefs, translations, newsletters, or brochures.
