The Ministry of Municipal Affairs assists municipalities in providing well-managed, collaborative, and accountable local government to Albertans. Our main responsibilities are:

- Funding supports for municipalities

- Protections for new home buyers and required licensing for home builders
- Province-wide support for access to public library services for Albertans

**Role Responsibilities**:
Working in the Accreditation and Certification section (A&C) of the Compliance & Assurance unit of the Technical & Corporate Services Division, the position will provide services that include researching, developing, updating, and maintaining examination materials that are required for the program to provide certifications for Alberta firefighters. The position is primarily responsible for developing and maintaining evaluations, which include exam questions and skill sheets, for the National Fire Protection Association's (NFPA) standards currently adopted by the province. This position is also responsible for developing networks and communicating with internal and external stakeholders, creating operational policies for the A&C program, and supporting the team with implementing new technologies and systems.
- Develop and maintain scenario-based skill sheets for the NFPA standards which the A&C program offers.
- Develop and maintain examination banks, within a learning management system, for the NFPA standards for which the A&C program offers.
- Maintain ProBoard and IFSAC accreditation of the A&C program.
- Develop and maintain evaluator and instructor networks.
- Develop policies, correspond with internal and external stakeholders, and draft reports.

- Preferably the incumbent will have a degree related to adult education, technical writing or related area complemented by formal training in research and writing skills.
- Experience in research, evaluation and analysis.
- Knowledge of the principles of adult education and learning evaluation.
- Knowledge of learning management systems and/or online examination systems.
- A high degree of attention to details (focus).
- Advanced writing, summarizing, review and communication (both oral and written) skills.
- Significant experience working on education/assessment materials, particularly those designed for job-related training or professional certification.
- The ability and interpersonal skills to quickly adapt within and become accepted by a variety of project teams.
- Basic project management skills to enable the position to plan, prioritize and manage assigned tasks.
- Initiative, rigour and independence.
