**About Us**:
Alberta Justice, Legal Services Division, is responsible for providing quality legal advice to the Government of Alberta. Within the Division, the Central Services Team provides legal services to over 20 departments. Our lawyers are involved in contract drafting and review, statutory interpretation, and in giving general legal and related strategic advice to a wide range of clients.

The work is fast-paced and provided in a team environment. Our lawyers are involved in a wide range of legal work that is challenging, interesting, important, and ever-changing.

**Role**:
We are seeking solicitors for two positions: (i) a permanent position, primarily advising the Department of Agriculture and Irrigation, and (ii) a temporary (15 month) position, primarily advising the Department of Treasury Board and Finance.

Please note that all Legal Officers may be reassigned within the division to provide legal services to any other department, as operationally required.

**Qualifications**:
Experience in corporate/commercial contract drafting and review, legal research and analysis, and preparing legal opinions is required.

Specific experience in providing legal advice in one or more of the following areas is considered an asset:

- major corporate/commercial transactions
- administrative law and regulatory compliance
- real property (including leases, easements)
- corporate governance
- procurement (including requests for proposals)
- insurance
- creditors’ remedies
- pensions
- experience advising (i) individuals or groups active agricultural and other rural activities or business or (ii) lending institutions on complex financings is also considered an asset.

**Salary**:
Legal Counsel 1 (up to 4 years of related experience): $3,093.72 to 3,985.934 bi-weekly ($80,746 - $104,032/year)
Legal Counsel 2 (4 years to 13 years of related experience): $4,445.91 to $5,670.89 bi-weekly ($116,038 - $148,010/year)
Legal Counsel 3 (more than 11 years of related experience): $5,604.74 to $6,547.96 bi-weekly ($146,283 - $170,901/year).

Hours of work: Monday - Friday, 8:15 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. (36.25/week)
