**Salary**:
**Civil Crown Counsel 1** (Less than four years of related experience):
$3,633.50 - $4,577.16 bi-weekly / ($94,834 - $119,463/year)

**Civil Crown Counsel 2 **(Four years to 11 years of related experience):
$5,148.92 - $6,376.28 bi-weekly / ($134,386 - $166,420/year)

**Civil Crown Counsel 3** (More than 11 years of related experience):
$6,857.81 - $7,604.03 bi-weekly / ($178,988 - $198,465/year)

**Role Responsibilities**:
Alberta Justice - Legal Services Division - has an exciting opportunity for a motivated and engaged lawyer looking to provide legal advice and services to the Government of Alberta on the full spectrum of labour and employment law matters.

Responsibilities of this position will include:

- Working with clients on the development and implementation of legislation;
- Collaborating with clients to develop proactive strategies for addressing complex workplace matters;
- Drafting and communicating clear, concise, and accurate legal opinions;
- Providing advice on policies, procedures, and programs;
- Drafting employment and other contracts;
- Providing information, support, and direction to outside counsel representing the organization;
- Researching, monitoring, analyzing, and communicating changes in the law that might impact the organization; and
- Appearing before third-party decision-makers including arbitrators, umpires, the Human Rights Commission, and the Labour Relations Board.

**Qualifications**:
A Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) or Juris Doctor (JD). For Law degrees obtained outside Canada, proof of accreditation from the National Committee on Accreditation (NCA) is required. You must be an active member or must have immediate eligibility for full membership with the Law Society of Alberta.
- Experience providing advice on the interpretation of legislation;
- Demonstrated experience providing strategic legal advice;
- Exceptional legal, problem solving and communication skills;
- Exceptional analytical, research and effective writing skills; and
- Related experience practicing labour and employment law.
