**MARINE SERVICE Workplace Support Facilitator**

**1 position: Vancouver, BC**

Quadrant Marine Institute is looking for the right career-minded people to join our core Marine Service training team at our workshop in Vancouver, BC. This dynamic position will support our team of instructors, apprentices, and employer partners across BC’s small craft/recreational marine service industry.

**Overview of Roles & Responsibilities**

**Job Summary**

As a member of the core team, the Workplace Support Facilitator will report to the Managing Director and support apprentices in their completion of the Marine Service Technician (MST) program. This primarily involves working with apprentices and their employer sponsors while supporting the growth of Quadrant’s online and in-person training programs.
- Train / instruct Level 3 and 4 MST apprentices on the competency assessment process and help build their training plans for completion.
- Facilitate and track workplace mentoring, on-the-job training plans, and competency assessment with currently registered employers and apprentices.
- Onboard new companies, employers, supervisors to the responsibilities for mentorship and documentation in the MST program.
- Recommend and assist MST Trade Challengers with documentation and navigating the challenge processes prior to writing their Certificate of Competency Exam.
- Record and report on BC marine service industry demographics and trends.
- Continue to develop and refine existing workplace support tools and processes.
- Actively promote and raise the awareness of Quadrant’s programs in BC and across Canada.
- Recruit and build relationships with apprentices, marine service employer partners, and the broader small craft marine industry (suppliers, brokers, industry organizations, etc.) while in the field.
- Maintain accurate records to privacy protection standards.
- Perform any similar related tasks contributing to the success of our customers and the small craft marine industry overall.

Additional roles and responsibilities will be adjusted to the strengths and goals of the successful applicants.

**Work Environment**

The position will start at 10 - 15 hours per week on average. Flexible work time is required to meet the schedules of employers and apprentices.

A clear and current criminal record check with vulnerable sector check is a condition of employment.

Occasional travel may be required when meetings need to be in person.

Expect both indoor and outdoor environments in boat yards, docks, on vessels, and conditions typical of marine service work. Indoor workshops and offices may be unheated or have open bay doors.

**Must-Have Skills & Qualifications**

You have a thorough working knowledge of the BC small craft marine service industry with an MST ticket (or equivalent) and 10+ years experience in the marine industry.

You enjoy helping people troubleshoot and solve problems and are focused on exceptional customer experiences and building community engagement/partnerships.

You have strong communication skills (interpersonal, oral, and written English). Other language skills would be an asset.

You are resourceful, organized, and manage your time to meet deadlines (you have a strong work ethic).

You work well independently and in collaboration with a small team.

You like to learn from others and also share what you know.

You have demonstrated successful leadership and management abilities.

You have a valid BC driver’s license and a reliable vehicle. You are willing to travel occasionally as required.

Preference will be given to applicants with experience specific to on-the-job training, mentoring, or supervision; competency assessment or trades training/education.

**Work Experience & Other Assets for the Team**

You have intermediate level computer literacy e.g., Adobe Suite, MS Office, Zoom, SquareSpace, and various social media apps. Experience with Learning Management Systems e.g., Moodle, and Student Information Systems would be an asset.

**Combination of education, work experience, and relevant references will all be considered. Training will be provided for successful applicants needing to add to their skill sets.**
