We are looking for an IT Assistant that would work up to 20 hours per week in Guelph with travel throughout Wellington County. As an IT Assistant, you will be working on several IT related projects and supporting the general functions of the IT department.

Together, we provide support for over 900 people who have a developmental disability, and who live, work and play in Guelph and Wellington County.
Your Responsibilities:
- Help with IT projects as needed
- Assist with general help-desk tasks
- Call and screenshare with employees to determine exact issues and troubleshoot
- Drive to multiple locations to repair, replace or deploy IT equipment
- Troubleshoot cable TV issues with assistance from the service provider
- Move heavy equipment (up to 20kg per item)
- Maintain inventory/asset lists, flag when stocks are low, track to whom assets are deployed
- Create detailed and accurate diagrams of room layouts showing outlets, plugs, switches, electrical, networking and IT equipment
- Update, create, and develop documentation and knowledge-base articles to improve the end-users experience and for internal IT use
- Reimage computers for specific functions
- Determine and document security issues
Skills and Expectations
- Summarizing complex issues in one sentence to non-technical staff
- Ability to take ownership of an issue and push for resolution sometimes using lateral thinking
- Work within security protocols, escalating the issue if resolution requires elevated admin rights
- Can troubleshoot from first principals, e.g. is it turned on, is it hardware, is it software, is it settings
- Maintain multiple channels of workflow, e.g. ticketing system, meeting actions, project tasks
- Familiar with and can work with the terms ACL, ADUC, VPN, DHCP, DNS, POTS, VOIP
- Manage end-user expectations
- Provide honest feedback regarding workloads, skill gaps, workplace environment, and job satisfaction
You Have:
- Computer troubleshooting and networking skills
- Proficient with PC computer environment; Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
- Team player skills and have a positive attitude
- A self-starter attitude with the ability to take direction and work independently when required
- Excellent analytical, attention to detail skills and strong communication skills (oral and written)
- Strong organizational skills and procedural knowledge with good documentation skills
- A valid Ontario Driver’s License (Class G) and access to a reliable vehicle and up to date insurance
- Community College diploma in an IT related field preferred
- 1-2 years related work experience in a similar environment/role
- The ability to work up to 20 hours per week
- Flexible working hours may be required from time to time
