Responsible for monitoring and observing programs and patrons at the Recreation Youth Centre; the safety, behaviour and well-being of all participants; ensuring all patrons follow departmental Health & Safety procedures, including wearing personal protective equipment (PPE); preparing incident/accident reports as necessary; liaising with parents/guardians and responding to enquiries and/or concerns.

Job Requirements

1. One to three or more years’ experience working with children and youth.

2. Current certifications such as Counsellor in Training Program, Babysitting Course, National Coaching Certification Program or equivalent

3. Ability to deal courteously and effectively with the general public, participants, parents/guardians of participants and staff.

4. Excellent organizational, interpersonal, instructional, written and program delivery skills.

5. Availability to work evenings, weekends and special events.

6. Due to the nature of the contacts of this position a Police Vulnerable Sector Check satisfactory to the Town is required.

7. Current Standard First Aid & CPR-C certification required.

8. Current High Five (Principles of Healthy Child Development) certification preferred.

9. Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) certification or Safe Management certification an asset.
