**Service Supervisor (After Hours)**

The York Region Children’s Aid Society (YRCAS) is a non-profit community organization legally mandated to protect children and youth from abuse and neglect. As a leader within the child welfare sector, we partner with parents, caregivers, and community to provide a safe environment for children and youth, through equitable, culturally aligned services.

**SUMMARY OF DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Reporting to the Managers of Child Protection Services, the Supervisor will direct, coordinate and evaluate the provision of Child Protection Services to Agency clients within the Region of York through the development and monitoring of service delivery processes and the effective supervision of staff. This position will ensure that programs and services are provided in accordance with the Child, Youth and Family Services Act and other pertinent legislation, Ministry Standards and guidelines and Agency policies, directives and procedures.The standard shifts are 7:30AM to 11:30AM or 5PM to 9PM, the flexible shifts are 12 Noon to 3PM or 2PM to 5PM. There is some degree of flexibility with shifts options, which can be discussed with the reporting Manager of Child Protection Services. For each working day, it is required that one (1) standard shift combined with one (1) flexible shift is worked.**SHIFT AVAILABILITY**

**NATURE OF POSITION**:

- Supervise and manage the activities of assigned staff and ensure that child protection and other pertinent legislation, Ministry Standards and guidelines and Agency policies, directives and procedures are adhered to ensure effective utilization of staff and other resources in the delivery of service according to the Society’s policies and goals.
- Act as a member of the Management Team and participate in the planning and coordinating of the Society’s mandate, make recommendations and exercise decision making authority regarding service issues and matters related to the Society’s operation.
- Direct, exercise decision-making authority, coordinate and evaluate the activities of his/her team members to ensure an adequate standard of service to clients.
- Assign cases/tasks to staff as appropriate or required.
- Assume clinical responsibility for advising staff regarding casework assessment planning, and intervention etc.
- Review and assess pertinent case information and make decisions regarding child and youth safety and wellbeing.
- Provide professional direction and clinical guidance to staff on an ongoing basis and particularly on difficult cases complex situations as required including problem solving in crisis situations and strategizing interventions.
- Review case progress and consults with staff on a regular basis to support that assessment with families children and youth are accurately assessed and to monitor the effectiveness of services provided and Agency practices and procedures.
- Recommend changes to service delivery as required and ensure the effective implementation of the same.
- Provide back-up to other Supervisor positions as required.
- Continually evaluate the effectiveness and quality of services provided, identify gaps in service, participate in the development of agency service plans, budget submissions, goals and objectives, and policies and procedures through participation in Agency committees and task forces and direct input to Senior Team as required.
