**Role Responsibilities**:

- The Intergovernmental Relations and Engagement Branch, Strategy and Governance Division, plays a leading role in the development and delivery of community and stakeholder engagement processes to support government decision-making that ensures the sustainable management of Alberta’s air, land, water and biodiversity. The Branch also plays a leadership role developing and delivering environmental education programs that foster shared public stewardship of the province’s natural resources. We are looking for a talented and passionate professional who has a successful track record utilizing public participation and environmental education approaches to facilitate effective decision-making and the adoption of sustainable environmental behaviours by target audiences.
**Public Participation**
- Lead all aspects of the engagement planning process, including the outcome and objective setting, technique selection, stakeholder mapping, risk assessment, data analysis and evaluation.
- Survey design.
- Facilitation, with a focus on moving stakeholders from positions to shared values.
- Design and delivery of in-person and online engagement opportunities.
- Data analysis (quantitative and qualitative) and reporting.
- Practical knowledge of a suite of engagement-related tools, including Engagement HQ, NVivo, Excel, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Webex and Jambo.

**Environmental Education**
- Leading all aspects of the environmental education planning process, including: establishing learning outcomes and objectives, technique selection, audience identification, and evaluation.
- Developing education resources that support the achievement of learning objectives identified for audiences across a wide range of demographics.
- Collaborating with a range of external organizations to strategically coordinate education activities and effectively leverage the expertise and capacity of these partners.
- Knowledge of learning outcomes established in the Alberta K-12 curriculum.
- Utilizing social media to effectively achieve identified education goals.

In this role, you will primarily be working in an office setting. You will have regular, on-going contact with Alberta Environment and Protected Areas staff, other ministries and external stakeholder groups. Intermittent travel is required to various locations in Alberta to facilitate the delivery of engagement and education activities.**APS Competencies**:

**Qualifications**:

- University graduation in a related field (Education, Communications, Public Relations, Community Engagement, Environmental Studies and Natural Resources) plus 4 years of progressive responsibility and directly-related experience, or a related diploma plus 6 years of progressive responsibility and directly-related experience. Directly-related experience can include: environmental education, stakeholder engagement, community relations or strategic communications with a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Equivalencies will be considered.
- **Equivalency**:Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:
- 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
- 1 year of experience for 1 year education.
- Experience planning, coordinating and delivering public engagement and education activities within a large organization or government setting.
- Facilitation experience.
- Engagement feedback analysis (quantitative and qualitative) and reporting experience.
- Experience using tools such as: Microsoft Office, Engagement HQ, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, WebEx and CRM tools like Jambo.

**Other assets would include**:

- Membership and/or certification with the IAP2, CPRS, IABC and IAF.
- Project management certification and/or experience.
