PARENTING TIME FACILITATOR, FAMILY ACCESS SERVICES (1.0 FTE)

Reporting to the Supervisor, the Parenting Time Facilitator will bring integrity, professionalism, keen observation
skills and a desire to help families. The facilitator is responsible for supportive supervision of both court-ordered
and voluntary supervised parenting time between non-residential parents, caregivers, and their children. The
Parenting Time Facilitator will provide coaching and skill building opportunities around healthy relationships, co
- parenting, emotional regulation, and brain development in addition to support, referrals, advocacy, and systems
navigation to families experiencing restructuring, separation, and divorce. Approaching this work from a
strengths-based, trauma-informed, and non-judgmental perspective is essential to support the rebuilding of family
bonds. The facilitator is responsible for being a positive and transparent member of the team who thrives in a
fast-paced, independent, and highly communicative role.

This is a full-time position working 37.5 hours per week, Occasional weekends and evening hours will be
required.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Actively observe supervised parenting time in a neutral and non-judgmental way
Offer coaching and skill building opportunities for program participants to engage in healthy relationships.

This includes healthy communication, co-parenting, and emotional regulation skills. Provide information
around healthy brain development and its relation to family dynamics / parenting

Develop a collaborative and supportive relationship while maintaining professional boundaries
Use cross-cultural knowledge and understanding to work effectively with diverse clients, staff, volunteers,

and students
Ensure ethical standards of practice are always maintained and responsible for ensuring participant privacy

and confidentiality
Collaborate with Strengthening Families Coordinator to facilitate workshops for assigned cases and assist

clients with learning

are documented and files are maintained as per the program and organizational standards
Copying and scanning files and materials and other paperwork as required
Ensure participant surveys are completed with clients in a timely manner when requested
Seek out and attend professional development activities related to supervised parenting time, domestic

violence, parenting, family justice, family law, child development and other relevant topics
Complete required trainings in a timely manner and is prepared to discuss learnings at team meetings
Participate in annual fuel performance process, sets work goals, and attends quarterly check-ins
Shares challenges and concerns with either the coordinator or supervisor in an open way to ensure team

dynamics remain positive and is always transparent in communications
Always be ethical in conduct and set a positive example by fulfilling responsibilities with utmost integrity,

ethics and professionalism
Attends organizational meetings and events when requested and completes organizational effectiveness and

climate surveys regularly

WHAT YOU’LL BRING

Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Human Services, Social Work, Child Studies, or related field or equivalent in
education and experience

Current professional registration as applicable i.e., RSW
First Aid and CPR certification required
Experience in systems navigation and facilitation considered an asset
Experience working with families impacted by separation, divorce, and/or domestic violence is an asset
Alberta Family Wellness Initiative’s Brain Story certification required or to be completed within 3 months of

employment
Certification in Non-violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) and Applied Suicide Intervention Skills (ASIST) required or

to be completed within 6 months of employment
Strong verbal communicator with excellent written skills, including grammar and spelling
Excellent interpersonal skills and value working on a high-performing, positive team
Take a supportive, positive, and non-judgmental approach while working with clients
You maintain your calm under pressure and possess strong crisis intervention skills
You have a good understanding of the dynamics of domestic violence and other types of family conflict and

possess keen risk assessment skills
