**Job duties**:
- Prepare ingredients by chopping vegetables, cutting meat, and gathering other necessary items
- Assist in cooking meals according to recipes or instructions provided by the Head Chef or Sous Chef
- Ensure that all dishes meet quality standards in terms of both taste and presentation
- Develop new and innovative meat dishes that will delight our customers by using fragrant and copious spices, nuts, olive oil, and creamy elements.
- Recognize flavors and judge the balance of seasonings to create dishes that are both delicious and healthy.
- Cook dishes using traditional Middle Eastern cuisine techniques and various variations/combinations.
- Oversee the preparation of salads and side dishes using ingredients such as dates, fava beans, chickpeas, and barley.
- Be well versed in the specialty of the cuisine of Middle East countries in the use of local herbs and spices such as nutmeg, caraway, cumin, turmeric, parsley, and mint that add flavors to the dishes.
- Prepare special dietary foods, such as vegan or vegetarian food

- Prepare a customized halal food
- Prepare dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances
- Follow food safety guidelines and ensure proper handling and storage of ingredients
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, including washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, and disposing of waste properly
- Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations and timely meal preparation
- Assist in plating and garnishing dishes for service
- Monitor food inventory levels and inform the Head Chef or Sous Chef of any shortages or needs.
**Required Work Experience and Skills**:
- Experience: - Over 5 years of work experience as a Cook or Chef or a similar role in the food service industry
- Knowledge of kitchen equipment and utensils used in meal preparation.
- At least 3 years of prior work experience cooking Middle Eastern (such as Lebanese, Turkish, etc.), International or Mediterranean dishes for a restaurant or a food court.
- Proven knowledge of preparation of special dietary foods, such as vegan or vegetarian food
- Prior experience preparing gluten-free salads/pizzas/pies
- Prior experience preparing a customized halal food
- At least 2 years of experience preparing dishes from lamb, goat, chicken, beef, and fish
- Prior experience following designated methods of organic food handling and organic compliance standards for food preparation, storage, and serving of vegetarian dishes and dishes containing meat.
- At least 2 years of experience in a professional kitchen using meat preparation techniques, such as how to select the right cut of meat, how to season it properly, and how to cook it to perfection.
- Proven ability to develop and prepare creative, interesting, and innovative recipes.
- The agility to handle knives and other cooking implements properly for cutting, chopping, and dicing.
- Excellent knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
**Education**:
- Secondary School
- SafeCheck Advance Food Safety Certification
**Job Terms**:
- Full-time, permanent position for at least 40 hours per week
- Hours of work: Early morning, morning, day, evening, weekend, overtime, shift.
- Overtime pay is provided at 1.5 rate after 44 hours per week
- Salary: CAD$28.60 per hour
