**Salary**: The salary range for this position is CAD $54.16/Hr. - CAD $77.86/Hr. Summary:
Reporting to the Director, Occupational Health, the Manager, Disability and Attendance Management leads the day-to-day operations of the Duty to Accommodate-Disability Management and the Disability and Attendance Management team by providing supervision and guidance to team members and is the key organizational contact for disability management issues. The Manager has overall responsibility for the development, administration and evaluation of Disability Management programs/projects throughout Providence Health Care (PHC). The position ensures adherence to processes such as EDMP and DTA and consistency of practice, procedure and evaluation of outcomes across PHC; supports the provision of a safe and healthy workplace through the development and enhancement of disability management and attendance promotion programs with a focus on primary and secondary prevention strategies.
Delivers expert guidance and advice to management (and the team) on a wide range of occupational health matters such as disability management, accommodations, attendance management, ensures compliance with all current employment and labour regulations, statutes and collective agreements and PHC operational and business requirements. Gathers and collates information to identify service gaps and inconsistencies and to make recommendations and implement approved changes. Identifies, develops, implements and actions goals and objectives for occupational health services consistent with the strategic plan for Occupational Health and the People department and PHC policies, procedures and standards. Provides prevention and early intervention initiatives for employees that will assist them to improve health outcomes and maintain optimal function and activity in the workplace. Uses effective change management to encourage organizational compliance and engagement in disability management and employee wellness strategies. Promotes an environment of cooperation and mutual respect and enhances partnerships with key stakeholders both internal and external at a variety of levels. Provides ongoing consultation to multidisciplinary health care teams across PHC and represents stakeholders on committees and working groups as required.
Provides regular and timely updates to the Director on current issues and activities. Represents PHC in court proceedings and human rights tribunals as required including liaising with legal counsel on case preparation and strategy. Performs disability management advisor duties for a limited portfolio.
**Qualifications / Skills and Education**:
Education
A level of education, training and experience equivalent to a Master's Degree in disability management or a relevant health care field. Seven (7) years recent, related experience as a senior Disability Management Professional, preferably in a health care setting, in a large complex unionized environment including experience in program development, implementation, marketing and evaluation at the supervisory level, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Certification as a Disability Management Professional is an asset.
Skills and Abilities
Comprehensive knowledge of the development of Duty to Accommodate-Disability Management and Attendance Management programs involving unions, management and staff.
Demonstrated knowledge of current health and safety legislation, regulations and statutes.
Demonstrated knowledge of current employment and labour regulations, statutes and collective agreements.
Knowledge of current issues and trends in the health care industry, particularly as these pertain to Disability Management and human resource management.
Ability to lead, mentor and provide direction to others including team members, leaders and staff.
Ability to serve as counsel in the context of third party disputes such as arbitrations and labour relations hearings.
Ability to influence and negotiate with union, management, staff, and internal/external stakeholders.
Ability to communicate effectively and present clear and decisive information, using the principles of adult education.
Ability to effectively organize, prioritize and delegate work in order to meet deadlines.
Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships, at all levels of the organization, with internal and external stakeholders.
Ability to lead change and manage conflict.
Strong mediation and facilitation skills and the ability to problem solve complex issues.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively with a team.
Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
Demonstrated proficiency in project planning and management.
Demonstrated ability to compile, analyze and maintain statistical data.
Knowledge of research methodology and commitment to program evaluation.
Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
