Reporting to the Strategic Lead, the Research Assistant, Signature Learning, provides multiple levels of research assistance to support the design of evidence-based elements of Sheridan’s new signature learning framework and experience. Emphasis is placed on the curation of evidence-based practices that support student’s self-development.

What You’ll be Doing

Conducting searches of empirical research and other publications;
Synthesizing articles into summary annotations for reference;
Transcribing information collected from learning community consultations;
Supporting delivery of engagement consultation sessions;
Conducting qualitative and/or quantitative analyses on information collected from learning community;
Writing brief summary reports on research findings;
Supporting the drafting of theoretical and conceptual models using visuals, written elements, and presentation software;
Supporting the design of written communications out to learning community;
Providing overall administrative research project support;
Developing of a research database and a related website presence;
Performing other related duties, as assigned.

About You

You have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and ability to present to diverse audiences and communities.

You have the ability to collaborate with others in a professional and diplomatic manner to advance initiatives.

Undergraduate degree (Master’s degree preferred) in Education, Psychology, or related in Social Sciences or Humanities

2 years of experience conducting quantitative and/or qualitative research, writing research proposals, writing research reports, and/or research project management within a research laboratory

Knowledge of operating systems (Windows and MacOS), Office Suites (Microsoft, Google Docs), Presentation Software (PowerPoint), Spreadsheets (Excel, Google Spreadsheets), Communication and Collaboration (video chat tools e.g. Skype, WhatsApp, Viber, Zoom), Social Media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram), and/or Website Builders/Platforms (WordPress, Wix)

Experience working with various information management and analysis software including NVIVO, SPSS, etc., will be considered an asset

Self-directed, resourceful and enthusiastic

Exceptional organizational skills; ability to prioritize, track multiple projects, and meet deadlines with high quality results
