Why is this role important?
- The Manager, Health System Analytics plays a key role in achieving the mandate of the Health System Analytics branch and is responsible for ensuring the successful completion of projects as identified in the Analytical Plan. The Manager also plays key roles in strengthening CIHI’s analytical delivery capacity and building relationships with CIHI’s tier one customer segments (as identified in the Customer Strategy). The Manager is also responsible for the ongoing development and mentoring of project leads as well as providing expertise to other parts of the branch and across CIHI.
- What you'll do
- 1. Leads and motivates the project teams; provides clear direction; effectively delegate and monitor performance results; motivate and develop others to go above and beyond; support others through change; make decisions that balance the best interests of the team, the organization and its stakeholders; and lead by example by living CIHI’s core values.
- 2. Leads projects as identified in the Analytical Plan to produce actionable information for policy-makers and health system managers. This includes developing the overall methodology, research questions, conducting internal and external consultations, and reviewing analytical approaches and key findings. Acts as liaison with other CIHI divisions to incorporate research and policy perspectives into products developed by the branch as appropriate.
- 3. Ensures that study results are effectively communicated and high quality deliverables are produced on schedule and within budget. Deliverables may include public written reports and digital reports, proposals, presentations policy dialogues, journal articles, client meetings, as well as communications for the media and CIHI’s web site and newsletters.
- 4. Applies project management expertise to plan, develop and monitor operational plans, budgets, and work plans and to provide documentation regarding project progress and change requirements. This includes ensuring the successful and timely completion of work being carried out by internal staff and through external contracts.
- 5. Provides leadership and strategic direction to the analytical program of work ensuring on-going coherent linkage between current research in community and branch and corporate analytical activities. Specifically, leads the identification and design of project concepts, risk assessment and some execution of health policy-related products and activities including reports and policy dialogues. Conceives the development of analytic research products that translate research and evidence into high quality, meaningful information to support decision making of Ministries, Health Authorities, clinicians and researchers. May include review and editing of CIHI reports with a particular focus on research and policy-focused information.
- 6. Develops and maintains strong professional relationships with various external stakeholders such as government, health facilities/agencies, vendors, consultants and related agencies and associations. Leverages these contacts to identify appropriate experts to advise on CIHI projects as required and to promote and enhance the use of CIHI’s data and analysis.
- 7. Constructively contributes to branch projects being led by others. This may involve brainstorming project approaches, participating in sessions to identify and manage risk, providing strategic advice during presentations of analytic findings, or reviewing draft reports.
