**Job Description**:
Reporting to the Governance Manager, some of the key responsibilities include:

- Research, develop, review, recommend revisions, and implement LAA policies.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders throughout LAA to assist in researching, writing, revising, implementing, and retiring corporate and administrative policies ensuring:

- Alignment with LAA vision, mission, and values and incorporation of best practices.
- Consistency with LAA risk mitigation strategies and plans.
- Content aligns with legislation as applicable and is written in a manner that incorporates LAA services and operations.
- Assist with updating and maintaining LAA’s internal policy intranet site as policies are reviewed and approved, ensuring website links to the most current versions of policies in alignment with LAA brand and visual identity.
- Support communication to and educating of employees to foster understanding and compliance with LAA policies. Seek input from stakeholders and committees to help identify, scope, and develop new policy initiatives.
- Research and determine the benefits and drawbacks of existing policies, as well as the need for future or additional policies.
- Propose suggestions to improve the effects of policies.
- Liaise/collaborate with senior management and executives to ensure coordination and timely decision-making for action items.
- Support the forward planning and agenda creation for the Board of Directors and Board Committees.
- Conduct privacy assessments, working under the direction of the Privacy Officer, who will provide advice, guidance, and support as needed.
- Collaborate with and support the Corporate Counsel and Privacy Officer role as requested or needed.
- Carry out tasks as required by the organization, including ad-hoc projects or assignments.

**Qualifications**:
**Education and Experience**:

- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as legal studies, arts, social sciences, business, or public administration.
- Minimum three (3) to five (5) years of related experience in corporate sector policy development.
- Experience with privacy requests and/or privacy legislation (the Personal Information Protection Act) is an asset.
- A combination of education and experience may be considered. Legal background or training is preferred.

**Knowledge and Skills**:

- Knowledge of corporate governance and policy development best practices.
- Knowledge of or familiarity with relevant legislation and regulations pertaining to corporations or not-for-profit organizations.
- Computer literacy in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and videoconferencing software.
- Superior written and verbal communication skills.
- Accuracy and attention to detail.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to handle multiple assignments and changing priorities effectively and efficiently with mínimal supervision.
- Strong presentation skills.
- Excellent research, analytical, logic, and problem-solving skills.
- A high level of comfort working with technology and a keen enthusiasm for learning new systems.
- The ability to make connections between different issues and consider impacts over the longer term.
- Sound judgment regarding ethics, discretion, privacy, and confidentiality.
- Ability to perform effectively under tight deadlines.
- Strong initiative and action-oriented with a sense of urgency to get things completed.
