**Bereavement Care Coordinator, Multicultural Outreach**
**Independent Contractor—Part-time 16 hours/week**
Heartache2Hope is an innovative organization offering a variety of supportive services to provide a continuum of care after suicide loss. Our goal is to help individuals heal from traumatic loss while building resilience and recreating a fulfilling life. Our services include both Professional and Peer Support, Individual and Group Supports. We are a small organization that has been supporting suicide loss grievers in Halton, Hamilton, Peel, and surrounding regions since 2014, with consistent yearly hypergrowth. Since offering virtual services, we now have clients across Ontario.
To ensure our services reflect the complex needs and wide-ranging views and beliefs of a diverse client and prospective client base, we are looking to expand our team to include a Bereavement Care Coordinator, Multicultural Outreach (BCC-MO). The Heartache2Hope (H2H) BCC-MO will be an integral part of the clinical team leading us in adapting our supportive programming to better serve a diverse client base.
**Duties and Responsibilities**:
- Lead the adaptation and implementation of our comprehensive suicide loss grief support program in a manner that ensures inclusion and that supports the needs of different cultures, backgrounds, and beliefs. This project includes needs assessment; adaptation/creation of programming and materials; marketing; recruitment and training of volunteers
- Conduct individual trauma and bereavement assessments
- Provide culturally sensitive trauma and grief counselling/therapy to individuals who experienced a suicide loss, in accordance with the standards, policies and procedures set out by Heartache2Hope
- Provide trauma and grief related group education and support in person and online.
- Provide client-centered, holistic care
- Provide education, consultation, and support to parents/guardians/family members for those clients that may be underaged, in coordination with the Youth Services Coordinator
- Provide consultations and education to community partners
- Participate and/or assist in the planning, development, and implementation of supportive, educational and development activities
- **COVID-19 considerations**:
- _Heartache2Hope is currently offering supportive services both in-person and virtually, according to client preference and/or geographical considerations._
**Qualifications, Experiences & Skills**:
- University level degree in Counselling, Social Work, or Clinical Psychology.
- Currently licensed with a provincial or national association related to degree, as well as ability to hold professional insurance.
- Additional training/education/certifications in Grief & Bereavement, traumatic death, trauma/PTSD, trauma-related treatments (e.g., CPT, EMDR), and/or Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction an asset
- Minimum 2 years’ experience working with traumatically bereaved or PTSD clients from diverse backgrounds
- Knowledge and awareness of the life experiences and needs of diverse, equity-deserving groups
- Lived experience as a member of an equity-deserving community an asset
- Demonstrates compassion empathy, and caring attitude in interactions
- Demonstrates an ability to relate to traumatically bereaved individuals in ways that built trust and confidence
- Experience in support group facilitation
- Experience in program development and delivery
- Proven interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
- Comfort with online counselling and computer literacy
