Internationally renowned for its medical education and research excellence, the Faculty of Health Sciences is comprised of four schools alongside a multitude of high-impact research institutes and centres. Areas of research excellence include allergy, asthma, cancer, cardiovascular disease, childhood disability, diabetes, gastroenterology, health equity, pain, infectious diseases and virology.
**Job Summary**:
The Manager, Donor Relations is the leader of donor relations and engagement for the Faculty of Health Sciences. Reporting to the Associate Vice-President, Pan-University Advancement - Health Sciences,, and working collaboratively with the Director, Donor relations in University Advancement (UA), the Manager plays a collaborative role in strategic development of these activities, as well as leading the operational implementation in support of their objectives and the overall institutional mission.
Donor Relations involves a comprehensive effort to ensure that funders experience high-quality interactions with McMaster that foster long-term engagement, ideally leading to further investment. It also includes ensuring accountabilities and obligations to funders are met and done so in a funder-centric way.
The Manager is a leader in advancement priorities designed to build and maintain positive relationships with key University funders, champions, alumni, and friends. The Manager, Donor Relations, is accountable for supporting the strategic planning, and leading the organizing and executing of a variety of engagement priorities and donor relations in support of University and University Advancement strategic goals, to build and enhance relationships, reputation and resources.
The Manager works to develop a consistent philosophy and practices around advancement priorities and donor relations of significant size and scope (e.g., recognition, donor relations, alumni, etc.) across the Faculty that are funder/stakeholder centered and informed by best practices, ensures strategic and coordinated engagement of University leaders as appropriate, and participates in a community of practice for others doing similar advancement work across the University.
The Manager works to provide consultation and advice regarding advancement engagement priorities and donor relations within the academy to further advancement priorities across the Faculty. The Manager will be proactive in working with Faculty leaders to assess their needs and to develop strategies for the successful execution, evaluation and follow up on all Faculty advancement priorities of significant size and scope. These initiatives will support faculty-led priorities that engage, cultivate or steward key stakeholders to the Faculty. The Manager may also lead key engagement priorities and events for areas of the Faculty with a growth strategy. The Manager will assess the Faculty’s needs and work with their leader to prioritize their activities using strong project management principles.
The Manager will provide leadership support for the development and implementation of engagement and donor relations priorities for a portfolio of alumni, funders and champions; provide effective and consistent advice to campus partners; address process and policy changes; resource planning and ensure key performance indicators are met while ensuring strong working relationships with internal and external University partners.
- Model a culture of collaboration, integration and service to support the University and Faculty’s core research and academic missions
