**Job Summary**:
Provides clinical services such as assessment, treatment planning and implementation for adult Indigenous clients with substance misuse problems and/or their family members. Provides consultation and prevention services to other professionals and the community. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, identifying core areas of concern to be addressed by clinical counselling, developing, and implementing therapeutic plans and programs, providing after care support upon completion of counselling and preparing and maintaining accurate clinical records and reports.

**Your Role**:
Archway’s Adult Addictions Indigenous Clinical Counsellor with the Abbotsford Addictions Centre (AAC) contributes by:

- Screening and interviewing clients to gather case history information.
- Assessing deep emotional and/or behavioural issues affecting clients and identifying core areas of concern to be addressed by clinical counselling.
- In consultation with the client, developing, implementing, and evaluating therapeutic plans and programs necessary to meet client goals and objectives.
- Providing individual, group, and family counselling interventions according to treatment plan.
- Monitoring and evaluating clients’ functioning and interaction with family, friends, and those in the community. Advising other professionals involved with the client, as necessary.
- Maintaining knowledge of community resources and providing appropriate referrals to clients to meet their needs.
- Developing, implementing, and evaluating support groups in program areas for clients and/or their families.
- Providing after care support to clients subsequent to completion of counselling.
- Being available for on-call counselling coverage 3.5 hours per week, and attending to incoming phone calls, returning messages, and attending to walk-ins.

This position is a great fit for someone who has excellent interpersonal skills, can manage a caseload of 25 active clients, and has good time management skills

**Our Offer**:

- Wage: $41.78 to $51.14 per hour.
- A temporary, full-time position at 35 hours per week, availability Monday to Friday from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM.

**Getting an Interview-you will be considered if you have**:

- Master’s degree in counselling or Social Work, or a Bachelor’s degree with identifiable experience with the Indigenous population.
- Registration with a clinical counselling professional association is preferred.
- Experience working with Indigenous clients with substance misuse problems and familiarity with indigenous cultural practices.
- Direct program delivery experience in a community social services agency.
- Experience in the Health Promotions field is preferred.
- Familiarity in working with a trauma lens.

**The Job Requires you to have**:

- A valid BC Driver’s License and a satisfactory driver’s record.
- Working knowledge of community-based programs and related provincial and community support services.
- Knowledge of relevant formal counselling and assessment techniques.
- Knowledge of group process and facilitation techniques.
- Well-developed verbal, written, and active listening communication skills, including cross-cultural awareness; able to communicate clearly and respectfully with people from diverse cultures and backgrounds.
- The ability to work in a stressful environment, often dealing with clients in crisis situations.
- Ability to provide counselling to clients dealing with physical, sexual and/or emotional abuse and neglect, mental illness, and alcohol and drug misuse.
- A moderate level of physical health and fitness is required to effectively carry out the duties of the position.
- Access to a personal vehicle is required to drive for program related work.
- A satisfactory criminal records check is a condition of employment.
