**Position Title**: Settlement Worker - BC SAF-HAVN Program

**Program**: BC Services and Assistance for Humanitarian and Vulnerable Newcomers (BC SAF-HAVN)

**Reports to**: Newcomers Services Lead

**SUMMARY**

The BC SAF-HAVN Settlement Worker supports the settlement and integration of newcomers who are refugee claimants and other humanitarian migrants. This includes assisting clients with focus on accessing labour market and connecting to the community. The Settlement Worker is also responsible for providing information orientation, referrals, facilitating workshops, and supporting events and community connections activities.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Conducts needs assessments, develops individualized employment service plans, and provides bridging and referrals for eligible clients.
- Facilitates community connection activities specifically for refugee claimants, helping them navigate local services, social supports, and resources that promote integration and well-being.
- Provides targeted employment support for refugee claimants, offering job search assistance, resume building, and connections to potential employers, and skill development resources to enhance their labor market integration.
- Conducts group information sessions and workshops suitable to deliver on employment and community connections program goals.
- Assists clients in accessing government, community, and employment networks, as well as relevant services and programs.
- Builds partnerships with service providers to effectively link clients to community services (e.g., school districts, post-secondary institutions, recreation centers, and libraries).
- Stays informed of local programs, resources, and trends within both the general and specific client communities.
- Maintains updated knowledge of the organization’s programs and North Shore community resources.
- Performs program promotion and marketing activities to reach target client groups.
- Collects client feedback, measures outcomes, and completes reporting and administrative tasks as required.
- Ensures accurate input of service data into the database, adhering to privacy and confidentiality guidelines, and responds promptly to queries regarding data quality.
- Actively participates in departmental, organization-wide, and community meetings to stay engaged with team goals and activities.
- Provides first-language services as needed to improve client experience, including document translation.
- Performs administrative tasks as assigned by the Services Lead and Services Manager.

**Qualifications**
- 2-3 years of experience in service delivery environments
- Bachelor’s Degree in Social or Human Sciences or a related discipline
- Experience in working with newcomers, refugees, and other humanitarian migrants
- Proven ability to interact effectively and courteously with clients, staff, and the public from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds
- Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships among multiple stakeholders
- Knowledge of BC settlement, immigration information, and local community resources
- Ability to develop, promote, deliver, and facilitate orientation and education workshops
- Service-oriented with a strong commitment to supporting the program and organization in achieving goals and targets.
- Strong writing skills, verbal communication skills and ability to effectively support program reports as required
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, ACCESS, Excel, Word, PPT), Teams, and Zoom and the ability to learn and adapt to new technologies
