Samaritan’s Purse Canada (SPC) is excited to announce an incredible opportunity for a dedicated International Medical Volunteer Coordinator to join our esteemed Programs and Projects (P&PD) team
Samaritan’s Purse is a Christian international relief organization providing spiritual and physical aid to hurting people around the world. Since 1970, Samaritan’s Purse has helped meet the needs of people who are victims of war, poverty, natural disasters, disease, and famine with the purpose of sharing God’s love through His Son, Jesus Christ.
As the International Disaster Response Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and enhancing all aspects of the organization’s involvement in international disaster response activities enabling SPC to fulfill its mission of responding promptly and efficiently to disasters. This individual will oversee the recruitment, engagement, and deployment of the Disaster Assistance Response Team (DART) roster, as well as manage SPC response activities in close collaboration with our international headquarters (IHQ). This role will also serve as part of the Incident Management Team and deploy as requested. As an integral member of the P&PD, this role will help SPC carry out its mission and objectives through participation in daily chapel and prayer ministry.
**Key responsibilities include but are not limited to**:
- Maintains a strong collaborative relationship with IHQ through networking, travel, and ongoing communication, resulting in integrated design and implementation
- Builds SPC DART capacities and facilitates training events to grow the DART roster significantly over the next 2 years
- Provides leadership within the SPC International Disaster Response Unit (IDRU)
- Liaises closely with and represents SPC to donors and partners to elevate the organization’s rapport and garner future financial support for international response activities
- Represents SPC on international technical working groups in the global Samaritan’s Purse structure and external non-governmental organizations or partner networks and forums such as the Humanitarian Response Network and Alberta Council for Global Cooperation
- Enhances organizational asset and resource capacity to effectively respond to international disasters through IDRU logistics planning
- Reviews and follows applicable SPC procedures for the role, including adequate reporting on disaster response activities including grant distributions
- Articulates the theological and missiological connection to humanitarian response issues
**Qualifications**:
- Qualified applicants must be committed to Christian values and precepts and be in agreement with the Samaritan’s Purse Statement of Faith
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field (Project Management, Biblical Studies, International Business, International Development, Communications)
- Minimum three years of experience working internationally in disaster response or development settings, with a focus on collaborating with humanitarian agencies and specialized sectors
- Growth-oriented, with passion for training and development
- Understands and follows Canadian Revenue Agency compliance
- Proven leadership experience in a team environment, ability to work independently
- Experience with monitoring and evaluation of international projects
- Experience with proposal writing and grant development
- Detail-oriented, thorough, and accurate
- Ability to manage, multi-task, organize, and prioritize
- Illustrated strong writing and editing capabilities
- Proficiency in a second language is an asset
**Additional Requirements**:
- Valid Passport with no travel restrictions
- Able to travel up to 35% of the year overseas as required
