**About us**

The Kwadacha Nation (Tsek’ene), commonly known as Fort Ware, is located 570 km North of Prince George, BC at the confluence of the Fox, the Kwadacha, and Finlay rivers in the Rocky Mountain Trench. Our community is home to approximately 300 people and can be accessed only by radio-dependent forest service roads or by chartered air travel.

Working as a Family Development Coordinator, your key responsibility is to ensure the safety of Kwadacha children. The Family Development Coordinator will establish relationships with band members and liaise with the Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD) for the purpose of reducing the number of children going into care and reunifying families.

The successful applicant will:

- Have a Bachelor's degree in a Health and Human Services related field from an accredited university or equivalent experience.
- Preferably 2 years recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Have the ability to travel.
- Have a valid Class 5 Driver’s License with no restrictions or equivalent.
- Adequate and current insurance and be willing to provide a driver’s abstract upon hire.

**Responsibilities**
- Support children and families to enrich and strengthen their family unit from a strength-based and family centered approach.
- Act as an advocate when needed and support families by establishing and maintaining relationships with MCFD, RCMP, the court system, and community resources.
- Be familiar with MCFD processes to help support and advocate for children and families by explaining the investigation process to the family, attending homes with MCFD social workers if the family requests your presence, and ensuring family and cultural connections are maintained between children-in-care and their families and community.
- Keep running notes/records of all contact with MCFD, clients, court services, and/or contacts with other agencies.
- Aid clients in the process of healthier living through referrals to support services (i.e. counseling, accessing resources in the community or Prince George, and working relationships with MCFD, RCMP, and the court system)
- Establish healthy boundaries with community members and act as a role model for healthy living to community members. In addition, ensuring adherence to standards and legislation for confidentiality, equality, and diversity.
- Consult with Chief and Council regarding children-in-care and families at risk, as well as act on behalf of the Band in child welfare matters including overseeing the child’s plan of care and cultural plan, as well as, reporting to Chief and Council about important facts pertaining to the children-in-care.
- Familiarize themselves with relevant legislature, such as the Child, Family, & Community Service Act, Family Relations Act, Adoption Act, Infants Act, as well as any other relevant information.
- Sign confidentiality agreement and consents for the release of information when required.
- Develop programming or coordinate additional supports based on community need, the community plan, and available funding.
