**Abou**t the Opportunity**

The new state-of-the-art Toronto Holocaust Museum seeks a Museum Educator to facilitate its school and community programs. With the goal of offering educational experiences to a wide range of students from across the GTA and community groups, the Museum Educator will engage groups in discussion-based programming that unpacks the lessons of the Holocaust in meaningful and relevant ways for today's learners. The Museum Educator will facilitate conversations with a variety of groups ranging in age from upper elementary to high school from a diversity of backgrounds including public, Catholic, private and Jewish day schools; and adult groups.

The Museum's Ekstein Family Learning Lab, designed as a safe space for discussion, will be used as a post visit workshop space by the Educator to lead groups in programs allowing for thoughtful reflection about the museum experience while making timely connections to issues of hate today. The educator will establish rapport with different students and groups and tailor the post visit discussion to meet the needs of the group, in terms of their knowledge and understanding of the Holocaust.

Reporting to the Director, Museum Experience, this position supports efforts to sustain the Toronto Holocaust Museum as the province's recognized leader in Holocaust education. The Museum Educator will collaborate with their THM colleagues to ensure each group visit to the museum is a transformative experience.

We believe that high impact Holocaust education that is relevant to the world we live in today, can inspire discussion and behavioral change around contemporary antisemitism and all forms of hate. This is an opportunity to work in an educational management position at a brand-new state-of-the-art institution and the first Holocaust Museum in Canada designed for the post-survivor period.

**Core Responsibilities**:

- Facilitate and tailor post visit programming in the Ekstein Family Learning Lab. incorporating technology, visitor experiences and feedback into the session for school and community groups.
- Adapt programming for different age groups, knowledge and understanding of Holocaust history and antisemitism.
- Deliver programming for educator groups, teachers and post-secondary students as part of professional learning workshops.
- Work collaboratively with the Education team, volunteer, building and security teams to meet the needs of school groups and community groups in the museum environment.
- Co-develop post visit programming with education team to be responsive and reflective of different museum topics, current events, and themes.
- Assist on the floor with monthly Family Sunday programming.
- Assist with outreach to various community and stakeholder groups.
- Conduct evaluation of visitor museum experience to elicit feedback, compile results and prepare reports.

**Requirements**:

- Bachelor's degree in Education, Masters in related field or equivalent experience.
- Excellent presentation, facilitation, and public speaking skills.
- Strong communication, teaching and facilitation skills to lead discussion-based programming for diverse audiences from student to adult.
- Experience working in an education setting facilitating programming with various age groups.
- Knowledge of the needs of diverse students in the GTA as well as developmental stages for children and teens.
- Ability to think on your feet and adapt lesson/learning plan.
- Knowledge of Holocaust education an advantage.
- Strong intercultural competency, dialogue and listening skills.
- Flexibility to work some Sundays and evenings as required.
- This is a permanent position that can be either full-time or part-time (2-3 days per week). Union Level D. Please note that UJA's offices are closed on all Jewish holy days (yom tov) and we support early office closures to observe the Jewish Sabbath (Shabbat).
