**Rigging Supervisor ( Vancouver)**

Our Vancouver location is currently seeking a **Rigging Supervisor** to join our team for 12-month term with potential for extension.

**Summary of Position**:
**The Rigging Supervisor** is responsible for managing the technical execution of asset rigging across multiple productions, maintaining the rigging process and python based rigging toolset, and supervision of rigging artists, working closely with production teams to develop and support rigged assets across the production pipeline.

Please note Zoic Studios is engaging in a WFH experience for our staff and crew.

This position reports to the Head of Digital.

**Responsibilities**:

- Work closely with the creative supervisors and leads to develop rigging solutions that address creative needs and maximize creative flexibility across the asset production pipeline
- Support technical troubleshooting across productions and help develop stopgap solutions for critical rig based production issues
- Establish strong partnerships with other departments to ensure pipeline processes run smoothly
- Provide rigging solutions for applicable production challenges through existing rigging tools or by leading development of new tools
- Oversee the development and maintenance of studio rigging toolset
- Supervise rigging department work and deliveries and assist in the creation of rig assets when required
- Act as additional source of information for asset timeline / resource requirement estimates for asset builds
- Maintain high technical quality of rigged assets through the entire production process
- Perform quality checks of new releases of pipeline tools
- Understand the processes of other departments and gain their perspective to create well-rounded processes
- Ensure all delivered solutions are in line with broader stakeholder objectives
- Troubleshoot technical issues related to assets while prioritizing and always following through
- Understand the visual requirements of the project and design procedures, techniques and tools to meet these needs
- Maintain an effective, smooth pipeline across multiple shows at the same time
- Develop shot based scripts/tools for artists, to aid in layout, animation, and shot setup tasks
- Perform keyframe and mocap animation tests to demonstrate rig performance/capabilities
- Develop shot based processes and tools to aid in animation based tasks such as constraining objects, transferring animation, editing of animation curve data

**Qualifications**:

- 5 years’ minimum experience within a Rigging Department in Lead role on features, small screen or animated projects
- 5 years’ minimum experience as an artist within an animation or vfx studio
- Must have experience with scripting in Python and Mel
- Exceptional technical knowledge of the visual effects pipeline
- Ability to code, review and troubleshoot problems
- Understanding of modeling, texturing, animation, lighting, rendering and compositing
- Excellent communication skills in English; both written and verbal
- Positive attitude and flexible schedule
- Ability to work collaboratively with different teams
- Highly organized, able to manage multiple competing projects on tight deadlines
- Strong attention to detail and personal commitment to follow through
- Ability to work independently on a multi-disciplinary team
- Ability to quickly adapt to changes in production and prioritize tasks
- Extensive experience in Maya
- Solid understanding of Scripting (Python, Mel)
- Knowledge of Api, PyQt, Pyside
- Experience using Shotgun
- Houdini a plus
- Unreal Engine a plus
- Must showcase skill and experience with an up-to-date reel and resume

**This position is based in Vancouver. All applicants must be willing to relocate to British Columbia.**
