Your role

The programming unit at Radio-Canada’s Ottawa-Gatineau regional station is looking for a Reporter/Editor assigned to arts and entertainment coverage on digital platforms.

Curious, creative and innovative, you will be a cornerstone of our digital strategy focused on writing articles and producing video and audio to connect and engage with audiences.

Your core responsibility will be to prepare digital content in conjunction with the arts team. You may occasionally be asked to cover events for radio and television.

You must be creative and able to find original stories in your area of interest. You must also be agile, a good team player and able to handle stress. You have a strong knowledge and understanding of CBC/Radio-Canada’s Journalistic Standards and Practices.

You demonstrate and promote the values of an inclusive and respectful work culture. You know the people, communities and culture of the National Capital Region, the Outaouais and Eastern Ontario.

Work is governed by CBC/Radio-Canada’s journalistic and programming policies, practices and standards.

Key tasks:
- Pitch and produce digital video projects.- Pitch and produce online articles.- Pitch and produce stories for radio and television.- Package, as needed, digital stories with the best photos, titles and leads, plus links and other multimedia.- Conduct interviews to enrich web production; write copy and edit clips for radio.- Have sound knowledge of the various digital formats and best practices.- Pitch and produce original story ideas for both digital and current affairs programming.- Help prepare coverage plans and deployments.

What you bring:
- University degree or equivalent- Three (3) years’ experience directly relevant to the assignment- Superior writing skills- Experience doing talk/tapes and TV/radio reporting- Ability to choose relevant, audience-focused stories that reflect issues being discussed by the general public- Ability to quickly react and respond to breaking stories- Deep knowledge of and interest in the arts scene in the Outaouais and Eastern Ontario- Innovative mindset- Ability to work effectively under pressure to tight deadlines- A commitment to reflecting community and diversity- Solid command of spoken and written French- Intermediate oral, writing and reading proficiency in English (BBB)
