**Research Coordinator**:
The Community-University Institute for Social Research (CUISR) is a University research centre founded in 2000 and co-governed by university and community. CUISR facilitates partnerships between the university and the larger community in order to engage in relevant social research that supports a deeper understanding of our communities and reveals opportunities for improving our quality of life. CUISR is committed to collaborative research and to accurate, objective reporting of research results in the public domain, taking into account the needs for confidentiality in gathering, disseminating, and storing information.

CUISR research projects are funded largely by SSHRC, local CBOs, provincial associations, and municipal, provincial, and federal governments, yielding over 120 publicly accessible publications in addition to numerous academic publications. CUISR has secured over $12 million in Tri-Council grants.

**Primary Purpose**: The research coordinator is responsible for all facets of research project management, including multiple research projects and developmental grants, as well as supporting all administrative aspects of research conducted within the mandate and under the auspices of CUISR.

**Nature of Work**: Reporting to the University and Community Co-Directors, this position applies project management and knowledge mobilization skills and knowledge to perform a variety of duties. This position requires a high degree of autonomy in an independent work environment; effective time-management skills; and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team on larger projects.

**Typical Duties or Accountabilities**:

- Deliver training for student interns
- Work with CUISR principal investigators and research team and community partner(s) to define research goals, design, & workplans
- Maintain lines of communication between research team and community partners
- Collaborate with researchers on development of grant opportunities and proposal writing
- Ensure research activities meet guidelines set out by the University’s Behavioural Research Ethics Board

**Knowledge Mobilization**
- Schedule and help present at dissemination events
- Coordinate publication of research reports
- Coordinate with administrative coordinator on annual report
- Manage social media and listserv communications and coordinate with Web master on website dissemination (largely about messaging—the who, what, when, etc)

**Education**: Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, Community Health & Epidemiology, or other relevant discipline; or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

**Licenses**: None

**Experience**: A minimum of 2 years of experience in a university, or research or other grant administration setting is required.

**Skills**: Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as in a team environment; strong accountancy and numerical skills, strong critical thinking and analytical skills; unwavering attention to detail; effective decision making skills; proven effective organizational skills; excellent communication, consultative, and listening skills; exceptional interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively with a culturally diverse community; ability to exercise sound judgment, tact, diplomacy and confidentiality; and a high standard of professional integrity in handling confidential information.
