Camrose, Canada Directions For Wellness Inc. Full time

We are looking for a dedicated, professional, Support Worker who will be onsite to provide assistance to individuals who require it, and to direct individuals that drop in with computer logins and allow any self-directed individual access to the equipment on site. For those individuals that require assistance, the support worker will ensure they are able to achieve their purpose for accessing the center. It is important that DFW provides onsite support for individuals that are computer or technology illiterate, ensuring to provide them with some training if they require more than basic computer skills.

It is important to note that Wetaskiwin does not have any Safety Training organizations in the community, except for a First Aid provider who offers courses once or twice a month. Camrose and Leduc are the closest communities that provide exposure course and safety training. This puts Wetaskiwin unemployed, individuals with no Driver’s license, or uninsured vehicles at a disadvantage. DFW is proposing that the Support Worker provide the means to transport these individuals to and from training sessions. DFW will ensure that vehicles are properly insured, and we believe that this will motivate individuals to succeed in the workplace.

To be successful as a Support Worker, you should be knowledgeable of different career paths and be committed to helping clients achieve their related objectives. Ultimately, an outstanding Support Worker should be able to build rapport with clients and demonstrate excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Support Worker Responsibilities:

- Provide a friendly, helpful, inviting and supportive environment
- Be able to assist participants in accessing resources
- Provide DFW Career Services program information and benefits of receiving DFW support
- Be aware of community resources and provide information
- Update or edit resume
- In Wetaskiwin provide exposure course information and arrange travel if required
- Ensure program participant progress data is timely and accurate
- Review clients' resumes and suggesting improvements as needed

Employment Specialist Requirements:

- College or University in human services, psychology, or related field experience is preferred.
- Proven experience working in Human Services
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent research, organizational, and time management skills.
