**Job Summary**:
Responsible for managing programs related to the regional comprehensive traffic safety, signal timing, and data collection programs. This will require coordinating activities amongst a multi-disciplinary group, requiring effective communications and work load management.

**Duties & Responsibilities**:

- Co-ordinates a multidisciplinary team that undertakes safety audits on the regional road network.
- Liaises with special purpose committees, internal departments and external agencies regarding the Comprehensive Road Safety Action Plan (CROSAP) program and other traffic safety initiatives.
- Manages and prepares signal timings for new signal activation/modifications to regional signal infrastructure.
- Manages and maintains signal timings at optimal level of service for Regional corridors.
- Manages the Drive Safe Educational and Speed Enforcement program.
- Assists in maintaining the Regional Collision Database program.
- Undertakes traffic operations studies and reviews to improve safety/efficiency of Regional Roads.
- Prepares safety and traffic operations related reports to council.
- Assists in developing operational policies and procedures for Regional Roads.
- Responds to public enquires on traffic and transportation related matters.
- Assists in road patrols of the regional road system and prepares work orders to maintain transportation assets in the field.
- Collects and analyzes motor vehicle collision data.

**Skills & Qualifications**:
**Essential**
- Diploma in Traffic Engineering.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience directly related to traffic operations.
- Knowledge associated with the Transportation Association of Canada (TAC), Ontario Traffic Manual (OTM) and the Highway Traffic Act (HTA).
- Proficiency in the use of Canadian Capacity Guide, Synchro 9, and Traffic Engineering Software.
- Practical knowledge of engineering principles associated with transportation design, traffic safety and traffic signal management.
- Experience in the review of traffic signal timings, signal design, collision/capacity analysis, speed zoning and an understanding of traffic safety.
- Proficiency with MS Office and GIS.

**Preferred**
- Registration, or eligibility for registration, with the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians (OACETT).

- Must be able to perform all the necessary physical tasks associated with the position.
- Flexibility in work hours may be required.
