Richmond School District operates 38 elementary schools, 10 secondary schools, alternate programs, continuing education, and several additional facilities. The district enrolls approximately 21,000 students (K-12) and employs over 3000 dedicated staff.

The Richmond School District is currently seeking a continuing part time Secondary Home Economics teacher for the 2024-2025 school year.

In all classes there will be a wide range of student levels and ages (including within the Home Economics program), and the ability to teach all groups using differentiated instruction and project-based learning will be essential. This assignment is wide-ranging and will require a teacher who can adapt curriculum to help students with varying experience and skill levels meet with success.

Hugh Boyd Secondary is a comprehensive 8-12 school with a focus on student voice and promoting a well-rounded education. Staff and students pride themselves on their reputation for academic achievement and being well-rounded, caring, and respectful citizens. Hugh Boyd offers the IB Middle Years Program in Grades 8-10 and we use an 8-point Proficiency scale for assessment in all of these courses. The MYP aims to develop students who are: Active Learners; Internationally minded; Able to empathize with others; and have the intellect and skills to pursue lives of purpose and meaning. Our staff has developed a culture of collaboration and professionalism and are expected to pursue individual and departmental professional growth. We also want all staff to support the goals in our School Performance Plan and contribute to the School Framework for Enhancing Student Learning which include: Mental Health and Well-Being; Truth and Reconciliation; and School Connectedness and Engagement levels in our students.
