- Regular Full Time (35 hours/week)
- Grid 17 -1 ($33.68 - $35.14/hour)

- Closing Time: 4:30 p.m.
- Opportunity
- To provide a safe, culturally sensitive environment for all guests entering the Wellness Shelter. The primary role of this position will be to oversee the day-to-day operation of the Wellness Shelter and to ensure that all guests are kept safe and are adhering to the shelter guidelines. This position involves the scheduling of staff, ordering of supplies, delegating duties to shelter workers when necessary and reporting to the Wellness Shelter Manager on a regular basis. Weekly team meetings to discuss the week's events and to allow all staff to take part in the decision-making process.
- Responsibilities
- Supportive conversations and on-site needs assessments with high-risk individuals
- Provision of basic needs and harm reduction supplies
- Coordinate already-existing resources and provide referral and advocacy for appropriate new supports
- Provide a safe warm handoff to appropriate referred supports.
- Provide the coordination and follow-through with the identified team to establish the most effective wrap-around support
- Keep a daily log of activities and collection of stats for reporting purposes and communication with the rest of the team
- Qualifications
- 3 - 5 years of relevant experience or a combination of education and recent work experience
- Criminal record check including the vulnerable sector.
- Standard first aid certificate and CPR
- Knowledge of related resources such as: Mental Health, Income Assistance, Harm Reduction, Trauma Informed Practice, Addictions Support Organizations in the community of Chilliwack.

- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, strong organizational skills, and ability to prioritize work is essential.
- Ability to observe and recognize changes in guests.
- Ability to establish and maintain rapport while maintaining boundaries with guests.
- Suitability to work with disadvantaged and sometimes challenging adults in a diverse environment.
- Conflict Resolution, Crisis Intervention and Advocacy Skills
- Ability to deal with others effectively.
