- To provide a safe, culturally sensitive environment for all guests entering the Wellness Shelter. The primary role of this position will be to ensure that all guests are kept safe and adhering to the shelter guidelines. Maintaining a clean and safe environment, while making it inviting. Support guests while at the wellness shelter and refer to specific resources and needs. The Shelter Worker deals with the public, other service agencies and professionals involved in the support of the guests.
- Responsibilities
- The Wellness Support Worker Aux (WSWa) will provide frontline work at the new Wellness Centre in Chilliwack. The Wellness Centre will be open 7 days a week, from 7:00 am7:00 pm, serving those facing homelessness, mental health as well as substance use concerns. The WSWa will provide a safe, culturally sensitive environment for all guests entering and utilizing the space. The primary role of this position will be to provide connection and nonjudgmental caring, while maintaining a safe and clean environment for all. The position will assist guests with checkingin, assessing needs, and providing a bridge to other needed resources. WSWa works alongside other service agencies and professionals at the Wellness Center.
- This position will have a cultural understanding and trauma informed approach that involves our Indigenous and fellow neighbors. In addition, they will follow PCRS policies, service targets and mandates while assuring the program runs efficiently. Duties within the WSWa position are to assist participants with immediate needs, keep an eye on all participants in and around the center, regularly checking in with participants for safety and potential needs, provide resources as needed, keep the center clean including regular bathroom and shower cleaning, as well as providing harm reduction supplies.

- Demonstrated experience supporting teams working within a crisis environment.
- Demonstrated experience of working with those facing homelessness.
- Computer skills and administrative capability.
Occupational First Aid

- Mental Health First Aid certification.
- De-Escalation/Non-Violent Intervention training.
