Appleby College’s Summer Programs welcome students from around the world with diverse languages and backgrounds. Students attend Appleby College to improve their English language skills and experience Canada. The ESL Program is modeled after the Appleby College student experience, with a goal of providing summer students with a snapshot of what life as an Appleby College student is like. Students will live in boarding, attend class, participate in extra-curricular activities, mid-week post-secondary tours and exciting off-campus excursions.

Reporting to the Manager, Business Development, Ancillary Programs and under the supervision of the seasonal Program Director, the Photographer/Videographer will photograph and film participants in the Summer ESL and other applicable boarding programs. Working cooperatively with Program Directors, Instructors and Boarding Assistants, the Photographer/Videographer, Summer Boarding Programs will engage participants with enthusiasm and energy, making photo and video opportunities fun for everyone. The central responsibility of this role is to capture photos in the afternoons, evenings and weekends, mainly working outside of traditional classroom hours.

**Specific Accountabilities**:

- Work closely with summer program staff to photograph and/or film participants and produce edited photographs and footage for weekly web galleries and end of session slideshows and videos
- Work co-operatively and participate in program activities where required to collect footage for promotional materials including afternoon activities, evening and weekend excursions
- Produce 1-3 short videos using footage captured during various program areas
- Observe and promote all rules and regulations established for the program to include Appleby’s Mutual Respect Policy
- Seek assistance and advice from the Manager, Business Development or appointed supervisor and ensure all decisions made have the appropriate approvals
- Participate in all required training related to the summer programs, Health & Safety, and for photography equipment and software
- Complete tasks as assigned, and accordingly to scheduled deadlines
- Provide leadership, training and guidance to Communications Volunteers where applicable

**Knowledge and Skills**:

- Post-secondary Education, or a minimum completion of 2nd year
- Experience in photography with the energy and enthusiasm to make participants and instructors enjoy being filmed/ photographed
- Proven experience producing captivating video including capturing and editing the footage and overlaying sound and music
- Knowledge and experience with a digital SLR camera and film-making
- Knowledge of graphics and video-editing software including Lightroom, Premiere, Photoshop, Photodex, Proshow and online web galleries (such as SmugMug) all an asset
- Must be able to work efficiently to consistently meet deadlines
- Solid communication skills, with strong emphasis on customer service
- Ability to work well with others and follow direction
- Team-oriented, motivational and creative

**Workplace Requirements and Conditions**:

- As a condition of employment, a criminal record check with a vulnerable sector screening is required
- Location: Appleby College, 540 Lakeshore Road West, Oakville, Ontario
- Travel with students as required during scheduled excursions
- Work schedule: Afternoons, evenings and weekends, generally 2-3 evenings per week Monday to Friday from approximately 3:30 pm - 9:00 pm, and all-day Saturday with few exceptions. Off-site work on Wednesday or Thursday each week, Friday evenings and all day Saturdays will be required to cover group excursions and/or events. At times, overtime will be required to deliver to assigned schedule.
