**JOB VACANCY**
**Library Services Assistant, Part-time**

Port Hope Public Library requires a part-time Library Services Assistant to work as a member of the customer service team. This position performs information, circulation and customer service functions including answering information questions, providing reader’s advisory, checking in/out library materials, developing, and maintaining collections, overseeing membership processes and participating in the delivery of programming and community outreach initiatives.

**Education, Skills, and Experience**
- High school diploma with two years related experience in a public library or customer service oriented environment
- Post-secondary diploma (Library Technician, EXCEL) would be an asset but not required
- Excellent oral and written, communication skills
- Effective interpersonal and customer service skills including conflict resolution, teamwork, professional work ethic and a demonstrated commitment to excellence
- Ability to establish priorities, work independently and proceed with objectives following approved policies and establish procedures without supervision
- Successful employment history in a library using Symphony Workflows preferred
- Must have a valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle
- Vulnerable sector criminal record check required upon start

Schedule will be variable and may include day, evening, and weekend shifts; work sites will include both the Mary J. Benson Branch and The Hub at Canton.
- Must be available to work 2 evening shifts per week and 2 weekends per month
- Must be available to work a minimum of 15 hours per week

Compensation as per the Collective Agreement between the Port Hope Public Library Board and the Canadian Union of Public Employees Local 749-01.

Pay Range: $22.19 to $26.51 (currently under review)

Benefits: Voluntary membership in OMERS Primary Pension Plan; eligibility criteria as determined by OMERS, selective benefits/allowances as per the CUPE collective agreement.
