Research Analyst

Priority Comment:
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Research Analyst will be directly supervised by and will report to the Senior Research Analyst. The incumbent will interact with cognate units on campus engaged in research such as the Carleton Office of Research Initiatives (CORIS), Industry Partnerships Services (IPS), Carleton International, to implement accurate program reporting requirements within OVPRI.

Qualifications:
The incumbent must possess the following qualifications:

- The ability to interact with clients cordially, and provide excellent customer service;
- Proven skills with data analysis, interpretation, and verification;
- A high level of report and presentation preparation skills;
- Experience with data visualization and reporting using Microsoft PowerBI
- Experience organizing and validating data using PowerQuery
- The ability to write calculations and transformations using DAX (PowerBI programming language)
- Knowledge of research topics and trends would be an asset, including associated services such as Sci-Val, Times Higher Ed, Web of Science, and Google Scholar
- Excellent capacity for accuracy and clear analytical thinking. Should be familiar with statistical and numerical analysis and have very good attention to detail;
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
- The ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team;
- The commitment to maintain confidentiality;
- The ability to set priorities and to organize and present material accurately and clearly;
- The ability to formulate a solution tactfully with clients looking for statistical information, including determining the precise nature of their request and its degree of urgency;
- The ability to work in a computer oriented and heavily web-based environment;
- The ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing

Education and Experience:
The above is normally acquired through the completion of:

- Completion of an honours Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent, with exposure to research activities and descriptive statistics.
- Three years of relevant professional experience working as a Data Analyst required
- Professional experience in post-secondary administration would be an asset
