**Position Summary**:
Reporting to the Manager of Career-Ready Programing, the Career Strategist is responsible for researching, designing, promoting, coordinating, managing, evaluating, and delivering customized career development services. The Career Strategist provides information about and assistance with career planning and strategies to students and graduates through workshops, seminars, individual and group advisement, and through on-line resources. The incumbent partners with various stakeholders of Seneca through regular personal contact with the academic areas, students, alumni, and faculty. Overtime is required to attend meetings and for program or departmental events.

**Responsibilities**:
**Career Development, Student/Alumni Advisement, and Support**:

- Acts as a career consultant to students and recent graduates on an individual basis and in group settings. Assists students and recent grads in identifying strengths and barriers to employment and assists clients to develop job readiness skills, job search strategies and career management skills for life.
- Advises students and recent graduates on resume preparation and editing, cover letters, interview techniques and follow-up, networking and e-recruitment strategies, and career development on social media.
- Designs, develops, and delivers in-depth seminars, workshops, and training sessions on all the above aspects of career
- readiness programing including measures of success and learning outcomes for each.
- Trains and coaches in group settings (virtually, classroom or extra-curricular settings) or individually on skills identification of both soft and hard skill), resume, cover letter, and LinkedIn profile preparation and editing, job search strategies, and interview techniques and follow up, networking and e-recruitment strategies, and professionalism and profile management on social media.

**Strategy and Planning**:

- Researches, monitors and analyzes labour market and industry-specific recruitment strategies and trends on an on-going basis and identifies student/graduate career development and work ready skill requirements****:

- Actively participates in Seneca-wide projects involving the development of career related resource/course materials where appropriate
- Researches sector and industry employment trends on an on-going basis, keeping students and graduates up-to-date with the latest labour market information;
- Events may include, (but are not limited to): Job Fairs, Career Speaks, Guest Speakers, Employer Panels, On-Campus Employment Tables; In-Class Workshops and Extracurricular Workshops
- Interacts and liaises with other Seneca service areas (e.g. facilities management, security, health & safety, etc.) as needed

**Employer Support, SenecaWorks and Reporting**:

- Actively develops relationships and liaises with employers, Seneca faculty, students, and graduates to identify career education-related needs and then responds to those needs through the development and delivery of appropriate programming and services.
- Updates employer, industry, and sector information on a regular basis and maintains this as an accessible and usable resource in the Seneca Works resources in the office and online.
- Recruits employers to participate in a variety of career recruitment programs and activities such as job fairs, internships, job shadowing, mentoring, guest speaker forums, and volunteer programs.
- Prepares regular statistical reports of their day-to-day activities and evaluation of outcomes to the Manager(s).

**Qualifications**:
**Education**:

- A minimum of a completed three (3) year diploma or degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in a related discipline such as human resources, career development, or education. If in another field of study, state how the education is related.
- Certified Resume Strategist, Career Professionals of Canada is an asset.
- Certification in Career Assessment Tools is an asset.

**Experience**:

- A minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in career advisement/coaching, human resources, or recruitment in a College or University setting, including experience working directly with students.

**Skills**:

- Workshop facilitation, project, and event management skills.
- Strong instruction design and development abilities including the creation of online career development and materials.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the Canadian labour market and human relations issues relevant to recruitment and employment._ _
