**About the role**
We’re looking for a Health & Safety Specialist for our growing team
**What you’ll do here**:
- Develop, implement and maintain a robust Health and Safety ('H&S') program, policies, systems and reports including adaption to a Hybrid working model and a focus on continuous improvement
- Establish, refine, and participate in H&S governance processes
- Develop and implement training in support of the H&S program
- Ensure corporate compliance with local, provincial and federal Occupational Health & Safety Acts and legislation
- Collaborate with a wide array of business units and stakeholders to understand their obligations and specific needs in order to offer support, guidance and best practices
- Timely assessment and control of risks including root cause analysis and implementation of action plans to reduce/eliminate incidents
- Develop internal and external reporting procedures, as required
- Maintain and report on H&S metrics, activities and trends and propose recommendations
- Act as a Business Continuity Plan team member and major resource in planning and coordination with facilities
**What you bring to the table**:
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Occupational Health & Safety
- Minimum 5 years experience in progressively responsible H&S roles. Experience in the insurance sector is considered an asset but not required
- Strong working knowledge of the Occupational H&S Act and associated regulations across Canada
- Highly advanced ability to champion H&S programs including advanced communication and collaboration skills and the ability to support and influence multiple levels of management
- Ability to build and maintain positive and effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to design, evaluate and deliver effective H&S training
- Self-driven
- Bilingual (English and French) not required but considered an asset
