We are currently seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to join our team as a full-time Receiving Specialist, reporting to the Director of Finance at Nobu Hotel and Restaurant, Toronto.
As the Receiving Specialist at Nobu Hotel and Restaurant, you will oversee the efficient operation of the receiving department, ensuring the accurate receipt, storage, and distribution of goods. Your leadership and attention to detail will play a critical role in maintaining inventory control, minimizing waste, and supporting the seamless flow of operations in both the hotel and restaurant.
**Responsibilities**:
- **Receiving Operations**: Oversee the receiving process for all incoming goods, including verifying quantities, inspecting quality, and confirming the accuracy of shipments against purchase orders.
- **Inventory Management**: Maintain accurate inventory records and systems to track stock levels, monitor usage, and identify discrepancies or shortages in a timely manner.
- **Storage and Organization**: Ensure proper storage and organization of received goods in designated areas, adhering to food safety and sanitation standards, and maximizing space utilization.
- **Quality Control**: Implement quality control procedures to ensure that all received goods meet established standards for freshness, condition, and safety.
- **Supplier Relations**: Build and maintain positive relationships with suppliers and vendors, communicating effectively regarding deliveries, discrepancies, and issues, and negotiating favorable terms when necessary.
- **Waste Management**: Monitor and minimize waste in the receiving process through careful handling, storage, and rotation of inventory, and implementing strategies to reduce overstocking and spoilage.
- **Safety and Compliance**: Enforce safety protocols and regulatory compliance in the receiving area, including proper handling of hazardous materials, adherence to food safety regulations, and maintenance of a clean and organized workspace.
- **Documentation and Reporting**: Prepare and maintain accurate receiving records, reports, and documentation, including invoices, packing slips, and inventory logs, for internal auditing and reporting purposes.
- **Cross-Functional Collaboration**: Collaborate with other departments, such as procurement, kitchen, and finance, to coordinate receiving activities, address issues, and support overall operational efficiency and effectiveness.
**Qualifications**:
- Previous experience in a receiving or warehouse role, preferably in a hospitality or food service environment.
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team to achieve performance goals and objectives.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of inventory management systems and procedures, including receiving, storage, and distribution practices.
- Familiarity with food safety regulations, quality control standards, and sanitation practices.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact professionally with suppliers, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
- Flexibility to work varied hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on the operational needs of the hotel and restaurant.
