**Position Summary**

Reporting to and collaborating with the Director, the Program and Technical Coordinator (PTC) supports the Institute’s research and programming mandate by ensuring that all academic programming, educational support, technical research support, and audio engineering duties are performed optimally. This includes scheduling and maintenance of SSI’s facilities and activities, as well as coordinating and providing support for researchers, visiting artists and scholars, and student interns and volunteers.

**Duties**

The following are duties and responsibilities within the Institute for which the Program and Technical Coordinator will take a lead role.
- Co-curates, with the Director and the Research Committee, outreach programming and events, including guest and content ideas for the lecture series, sound gallery exhibitions, workshops, and performances.
- Maintains, develops, and acts a locus for networks of sound researchers across campus and at partner institutions, including maintenance of SSI’s mailing lists and web directory.
- Supervises and enables (by presence and promotion) the “open hours” of the Institute (drop-in hours for students and faculty, exhibition hours for the Sound Art Gallery, and special event hours during lectures or performances).
- Manages scheduling and access by researchers and artists to Sound Studies Institute’s facilities, including the Sound3Lab, the Media Lab, the Sound Art Gallery, and Studio B. Schedules external spaces for events as required, manages the booking of SSI spaces for guest or partner events, and coordinates with external partners on developing external co-sponsored events.
- Operates and maintains SSI audio visual equipment, including media lab digitization equipment, Sound3Lab recording studio equipment, and Sound Art Gallery multichannel audio exhibition equipment.
- Provides technical production and audio engineering services for audio-related research projects to academic and artistic groups on campus, including but not limited to podcast production, physical media digitization and archiving, digital sound restoration, sound art creation, and audio recording, mixing, and mastering.
- Schedules, develops, and delivers workshops to researchers and students on audio recording, production, and related skills. Trains researchers and students in the proper use of SSI multimedia studios and equipment in order to enable the effective pursuit of research projects.
- Designs and disseminates publicity materials (posters, mailouts, website updates, and personal communications) for SSI events.
- Acts as the Institute’s primary website administrator, actively updating the Sound Studies Institute website with information about research projects, performances, lectures, and other events, whether hosted by SSI or by affiliated researchers.
