The Ministry of Energy and Minerals is responsible for sustaining the interests of Albertans through the stewardship and responsible development of energy and mineral resource systems.

The Petroleum and Natural Gas (PNG) Tenure Operations Branch plays a key role in the development of the petroleum and natural gas, geothermal and pore space resources in Alberta. The branch leases petroleum and natural gas rights (PNG), geothermal and pore space rights owned by the Province of Alberta to oil and gas companies so that they can explore for and develop these resources. The branch’s business is complex and highly confidential; decisions made have an immediate and direct impact on industry and the energy sector in Alberta.

**Role Responsibilities**:
Reporting to the Director, the Manager of Sales and Crown Land Data participates in the development of legislation, policies and business rules for the PNG tenure and unconventional tenure programs, including providing recommendations for change, coordinating input and drafting and reviewing content. This position takes direction from, provides advice to, and responds to requests from the Director, Crown Equity, Sales, Business Support and CCUS Implementation, the Executive Director, PNG Tenure Operations and other senior staff within Energy Operations and the Minister's office.

As the Manager of Sales and Crown Land Data (CLD) you will take a leadership role in providing tenure and IT expertise and advice on issues and priorities that can be cross-commodity/ministry/government in nature. You will manage the Change Management requirements for CLD functionality. Providing strategic leadership you will resolve complex and conflicting stakeholder issues.

**Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to**:

- Manage the acceptance and processing of requests of PNG rights.
- Manage the public offering process.
- Operational leadership, planning and delivery of the Crown Land Data (CLD)
- Provide strategic leadership by managing the business of Crown Land Data and ensuring that information on major systems and interfaces meets the needs of its diverse user base in Alberta Energy and Minerals, other ministries and industry.
- Ensure the systems management of corporate registry and client information is current.

The successful incumbent must have good understanding of statistical evaluation, performing advanced calculations and drafting statistics and reports and proven leadership abilities and understanding of Alberta Energy's legal rules and requirements as well as industry business practices.

**Qualifications**:
Related experience or education will be considered as an equivalency on a one-for-one basis.

**The following will be considered assets**:

- Experience supervising staff and demonstrated leadership skills
- In-depth understanding of the oil and gas industry and land management practices and principles associated with industry activity.
- Knowledge of well data, geological and oil and gas terminology and ability to analyze and interpret geologists’ maps.
- Knowledge of and demonstrated understanding of the government policies, acts and regulations, including but not limited to the Mines and Minerals Act, Metis Settlement Act, Business Corporation Act, Companies Act, Mines and Minerals Administration Regulation, and PNG Tenure Regulation. Good understanding of the department's business and land management systems, the activties managed within the Tenure branch and the relationship of activities between the Tenure branch, Alberta Energy and Minerals, Environment and Protected Areas, the AER and other Ministries.Minimum recruitment standards outline the minimum education and experience required for appointment to a job classification.
