The Ministry of Transportation & Economic Corridors is hiring a Highway Maintenance Contract Specialist who will be the technical expert related to highway operations contracts. If you are experienced with writing and interpreting leases, contracts and RFPs, contract negotiation and amendments, as well as providing technical advice and guidance, then we want you on our team

**Role Responsibilities**:
As the Highway Maintenance Contract Specialist you will be the lead in procuring agreements with contractors, consultants and service providers. You will also lead negotiations for contract amendments, extensions and leases with contractors and service providers while remaining compliant with contract law. You will be responsible for actively minimizing future risk and obligations, achieving budget targets, and ensuring consistency and fairness across industry.

**Responsibilities**:

- Lead development and be responsible for RFP documents and the procurement of Highway Maintenance Contracts including RFP evaluation, while providing technical advice to internal and external stakeholders
- Oversee the amendment of existing highway maintenance contracts including consultations, negotiations and execution
- Oversee and provide support on the highway maintenance yards - developing leases in support of the contract renewal process
- Lead procurement of service provider assignments related to Highway Operations
- Supervise staff within the highway operations group providing mentoring, technical advice and guidance

**Qualifications**:
**Required**:

- University degree in Engineering PLUS ten years related experience in contract procurement, negotiations, and management
- Eligible for membership as a Professional Engineer with APEGA

**Equivalency**:
Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:

- 1 year of education for 1 year or
- 1 year of experience for 1 year of education

**You must also have**:

- Direct experience with writing and interpreting leases, RFPs, contracts and contract amendments Experience supervising staff; mentoring and offering technical advice and guidance as well as conducting performance reviews as required**Assets**:
