**General Description of Duties**

The Executive Manager is responsible for the successful development, management and evaluation of all aspects of the FSESO’s vision, modernization, rapid expansion, daily operations and community awareness in accordance with the strategic plan. Dynamic leadership abilities combined with exceptional communications and organizational change management skills are essential for success in the role.

The position reports to the FSESO Board of Directors with respect to the operations and administration of the organization. In matters concerning firearms instructor designation, suspension, de-designation and course content, the Executive Manager acts as the FSESO’s liaison to Ontario’s Chief Firearms Officer or designate.

**Specific Responsibilities**

The duties and responsibilities of the Executive Manager include, but are not limited to, the following:
**Leadership**
- Responsible for leading the FSESO in a manner that supports and guides the organization's vision and mission as defined by the Board of Directors by implementing policies and procedures
- Participate with the Board of Directors in developing and promoting the strategic plan and setting goals that are measurable and describable to guide the organization
- Identify, assess and inform the Board of Directors of internal and external issues, risk areas, business and environmental changes that impact the organization
- Monitor and minimize risks
- Foster an effective and respectful work relationship with the Board of Directors, staff and instructor membership base
- Responsible for implementing and ensuring compliance initiatives such as discrimination policy, expense reporting, social media policy and training

**Operations**
- Oversee the efficient and effective day-to-day operations of the organization
- Responsible for strategic planning and implementation of policies to ensure the FSESO can successfully fulfill its mission into the future
- Manage contracted relationships with external partners (example, IT provider, media agency, etc.)
- Public and press liaison. Speaker and events attendee
- Lead daily operations which incorporates the goals and objectives of the organization in conjunction with our vision and mission
- Promote public safety and the responsible use of firearms by ensuring professional, effective, comprehensive and standard delivery of firearms safety training and testing through our instructors
- Ensure that the operation of the organization meets the expectations of the Board and the CFO
- Draft policies for the approval of the Board and prepare procedures to assist in the effective and efficient operation of the FSESO. Review existing policies on an annual basis and recommend changes to the Board as appropriate
- Ensure all data is securely stored and privacy/confidentiality is maintained

**Financial**
- Responsible for the fiscal integrity of the FSESO, including submission of a proposed annual budget in conjunction with the Board (Finance Committee and Treasurer)
- Approve expenditures within delegated authority
- Administer the funds of the organization according to the approved budget and monitor the monthly cash flow of the organization
- Provide the Board with key financial reports and metrics, i.e.: revenues, expenses, number of instructors, courses, successes, failures, etc.
- Ensure the organization is compliant with all legislative requirements relating to the financial management of the FSESO (e.g. CRA, WSIB etc.)

**Human Resources**
- Define staffing requirements for organizational management and program delivery
