**What do you offer?**
The Neighbourhood Day Camp Camper Care Specialist supervises and implements the delivery of quality recreational programs, services and experiences to children and youth aged 4 to 16 enrolled in Neighbourhood Day Camp programs. The NDC Camper Care Specialist supervises Inclusion Counsellors and provides them with tools to create a meaningful camp experience for all participants as they engage in summer camp activities, discover nature and enjoy the natural environment, build self-confidence and establish lasting friendships.
There will be 2 Camper Care Specialists, 1 in the West end and 1 in the East end. They will be overseeing sites in:
- Taggart Family Y
- Ottawa-Nepean West (Woodroffe Area)
- Nepean (Barrhaven)
- Clarence-Rockland Y
- Ottawa South
- Stittsville
- Vanier
- Kanata
**Some of the tasks of this position include**:
- Ensuring that children with particular needs have a positive experience leading to personal growth through fun and rewarding programs.
- Being responsible for supporting the training of staff and providing them with tools to be successful in their role.
- Ensuring that excellent customer service is provided to members and participants by proactively addressing concerns or issues and escalating them to the NDC Coordinator, as necessary.
- Fostering self-esteem and conflict resolution skills in program participants.

**Education**
- Educational background and work experience with children with disabilities and their families
- ECE certification is an asset
**Language**
- Ability to work in English
- Bilingualism is an asset
**Experience, Skills and Abilities**
- Standard First Aid and CPR “C” or equivalent
- Experience working in a camp setting, with progressive leadership and responsibility
- Well-developed interpersonal and relationship-building skills; ability to establish rapport and excellent communication with program participants, members, staff and volunteers
- NSL Certification, YMCA - Healthy Child Development, Fundamental Movement Skills - NCCP certification or other relevant certification will all strongly be considered as assets
- A minimum of 4 years of experience working in camping and outdoor education, and a minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience in camping and outdoor education
**Additional Requirements**
- Applicants must already have a valid permit to work in Canada.
- Semi-annually, staff must complete the mandatory training for the protection of Children & Youth and submit the certificate of completion.
