RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF THE MUHC
The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) is a world-renowned biomedical and hospital research centre. Located in Montreal, Quebec, the Institute is the research arm of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University. The RI-MUHC is supported in part by the Fonds de recherche du Québec - Santé (FRQS).

Position summary
The Women’s Health Research Unit of the MUHC is led by Dr Lucy Gilbert focuses on research that produces practical and immediate benefits for women with cancer. It is active in collaborative multinational clinical trials and academic research.
The Unit Manager will be responsible for the comprehensive management and oversight of the Unit, reporting to Dr Lucy Gilbert as well as with the Associate Director, Dr Claudia Martins including serving as a key link between managers of academic center, clinical trials and gynecology oncology staff.

General Duties
- Supervision of the activities related to clinical trials and studies conducted by the Women’s Health Research Unit. Liaison between staff managers and coordinators with the Director and Associate Director,
- Ensure that all studies are conducted in accordance with ethical standards and scientific principles,
- Supervision of the activities related to clinical trials and studies conducted by the Women’s Health Research Unit,
- Supervision and management of clinical and clerical personnel,
- Liaise with different teams and departments, including McGill University Health Centre, McGill University and Research Institute,
- Liaise with ethic committees and protocol development teams,

Education / Experience

**Education**: Bachelor’s degree

**Area of study**: Management, Business, Economics or equivalent
- In-depth knowledge of techniques for planning, managing and coordinating projects, with competing priorities that involve a variety of stakeholders,
- Leadership: formulate training plans, provide resources & encourage staff members to complete good work and grow in their careers,
- Self-directed and able to work with mínimal supervision and able to supervise others: Good organizational and planning skills. Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and able to work well under pressure,
- Interpersonal skills & compassion: actively maintain and build effective relationships with doctors, nurses, clinical research assistants, administrative agents, and other managers,
- Adaptability & analytic thinking: to be able to make changes to remain compliant to new healthcare requirements & deal with practical, hands-on problems and generate efficacious solutions,
- Attention to details & Investigative: able to work with ideas that require an extensive amount of critical thinking,
- Problem solving: Comply with patient safety and confidentiality policies & deal with sensitive situations and effectively interact with patients who range from healthy to critically ill,
- English and French, spoken and written,
- Minimum of five years of experience,

Additional information

**Status**: Temporary, full time (35-hour workweek)

**Pay Scale**: Commensurate with education and experience

**Work Shift**: 8:00am to 4:00pm

**Work Site**: Glen
