SUMMARY STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Event Manager is responsible for developing comprehensive strategies, budgets and business plans for industry leading SME tradeshows and conferences exceeding $1,000,000 in gross revenue. They will implement these plans for all aspects of event production and promotion - meeting the goals of the SME organization, exhibitors, attendees and partners. This includes exhibit sales, operations, marketing, customer service, audience generation, educational offerings and special programs.

MAJOR FUNCTIONS:

- Manage budgets and resources to deliver SME events to meet market and organizational expectations. This may include working with team members within the Events and Industry Strategies area, and also within other SME departments and business units.
- Establish partnerships and relationships with other industry organizations that can contribute to the SME and event goals. Develop and execute MOUs and agreements to define roles and responsibilities. Foster these relationships to benefit of the event itself and SME as a whole.
- Lead, manage, and provide direction to contractors and vendors. Collaborate with SME staff, and external contractors to ensure successful event operations and program development/deployment.
- Interact regularly with major exhibitor customers and key attendees to ensure event/project is in sync with market needs and requirements. Form event advisory committees for key initiatives and build relationships with companies and individuals who are engaged.
- Innovate by developing special features and programs at events. Ensure these activities meet market needs and expectations.
- Develop literacy and working industry knowledge including the technologies and processes featured. Foster the ability to discuss customers’ products/services and discern opportunities.
- Utilize project management tools such as milestone charts and timelines for all major event initiatives. Monitor progress and manage to keep production on track.
- Guide and ensure consistency of SME corporate image and brand throughout each event/project.
- Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

- Bachelor’s degree with 3-5 years of experience in marketing, events, conferences, project management or sales. Event management experience preferred.
- Relationship building, networking and outreach skills. Sales aptitude preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Leadership skills to guide diverse teams towards a common goal.
- Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge and experience with marketing techniques, social media and industry trends
- Technical literacy in manufacturing preferred
- Outgoing, self-motivated person with strong organizational skills
- Demonstrates extreme attention to detail and professionalism
- Bilingual skill set an asset
