**The Opportunity**:
The Quality Control Manager at Nine Locks Brewery plays a critical role in developing and leading a comprehensive quality program that ensures the production of exceptional products while minimizing waste. This position involves overseeing the collection and analysis of quality data to identify trends, recommending strategic process improvements, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and internal standards. They will collaborate with various departments to deliver high-quality products on schedule and drive initiatives to foster a culture of quality throughout the organization.
**What you will be doing**:
Develop and maintain Quality Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistency and quality across all products.
- Create, implement, and maintain robust food safety protocols to ensure compliance with all regulatory standards and best practices.
- Lead initiatives to secure and maintain a high food safety rating through regular audits, assessments, and continuous improvement efforts.
- Identify quality issues and collaborate with the Head Brewer to implement effective solutions.
- Collect samples for laboratory testing and perform microbiological analysis on wort, beer, water, and equipment.
- Measure and track dissolved oxygen levels and yeast in finished products, as well as analyze beer and wort for pH, color, turbidity, VDK, AE, and IBU.
- Lead root cause analysis processes to address quality concerns and drive improvements.
- Implement and manage sensory analysis processes to evaluate product quality.
- Test raw materials, including malt, hops, and water, to ensure they meet specification standards.
- Research, select, and maintain laboratory equipment and instrumentation, including repairs and servicing as needed.
- Stay current on industry trends and developments in brewing science through self-education and research.
- Maintain a clean working environment and adhere to all safety regulations, working to enhance workplace safety.
- Collaborate with brewing staff to develop accurate specifications for each product.
- Perform necessary recordkeeping and summarize findings for presentation to management.
**What you will bring**:
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Brewing Science, Chemistry, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of food and beverage industry lab experience
- Experience with food safety planning
- Experience in quality management in food operations (beverage experience is preferred)
- Knowledge and understanding of basic lab functions and microbiological concepts
- Outstanding work ethic with exceptional discipline, attendance, and safety record
- Self-starter with an ability to work with limited supervision
- High energy and initiative, with strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Comfortable with a face-paced environment
- Computer familiarity and capable of adapting to new computer programs
- Level 2 First Aid is an asset
- Prior experience in the brewing industry is an asset
You will be required to lift heavy objects exceeding 50lbs and have ability to stand and move for entire shift of 8 hours. Also, must be able to kneel, stoop, crouch, or crawl and maintain or regain balance.

Pay: $65,000.00-$75,000.00 per year
